I need a car for business, but the business is not registered in the UK.
Hi
Please can you help me. I have a specific problem.
I am looking to lease a Nissan Quasqui for business use. The car I am looking for is a Nissan Quasqui Crossover 1.5 dCi 110 Acenta Premium 5dr or similar.
I have a problem because the company I am employed by does not have a UK registered office and so any leasing agreement would be arranged from the head office in Spain.
I have found that when I mention this to any leasing companies, they back off immediately so can I get some advice on how to best deal with this. Are there any options?
If this cannot be done as a business lease then I am happy to consider a personal contract but this is not my personal preferred option.
Yearly business mileage would not exceed 35000 miles.
Regards
Mike

Surely your employer should be able to sort it out for you.0

And if you are the owner of the company, why is it registered in Spain? No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...0

Hi All,
Neil, I am just trying to be helpful to them, they have a registered office in Spain and 1 in France. I am their first employee in a country they are not registered in.
Trailing spouse, I am not the owner of the company.

So if the car is being used in a country it is not registered in for more than 3 months you need to register it there, EU rules.
If you live in France and will be using the car mainly in UK where will you register it and surely all this is for the company to sort out?0 -
Ok, I am resident in the UK and the car will only be used in the UK.
We have checked out buying a car from Spain and using it here but it is a non starter as the car has a steering wheel on the opposite side and also any car bought in a country needs to be registered in that country.
The company want the car to be registered to them but used by me and it seems to be an EU nightmare!0 -
I can appreciate the problems of registering the vehicle, but the steering wheel being on the opposite side, hardly makes it a "non-starter".0

I think what you need is a fleet hire company that can operate internationally. A quick google provided this company - http://www.arval.co.uk/
But as again this is something that your employer should be dealing with directly.0 -
Sounds a bit like chicken and egg. Can they not get an address to register the company eg a solicitor?0
-
Its not your problem so why worry about it?0

Neilmcl - your answer is very helpful and gives me an option to pursue.
I think most answers here are appalling. Basically, everyone thinks it should be somebody elses problem and that is the route of most troubles in the world.
What you guys dont see is the efforts being made here. I am looking to start a new business in the UK which is already a success in Spain and France. However, a business does not just "happen" and it is my role to work through all the obstacles and set something up that will benefit people in the UK and make a contribution to our economy.
If I just left all decisions to "somebody else" then nothing would get done. So please stop being so short sighted on issues and help with the question.0
