I think this is a lovely idea - my H2B has unfortunately lost both his Parents, his Mum 4 years ago just after we got together and his Dad about 12 years ago. I suggested this to him and he really hated the idea. He has aked for nobody to mention his Parents at all on the day and says he will be sad enough and thinking about them enough without people 'going on' about it all the time and having a rememberance table... I agree with those that have suggested talking to your daughter and her H2B to see how they feel about it.

Thank you for all your thoughts and comments about the table.

Originally my daughter did not want it as it was only our side of the family that had lost close family members, however now her fianc! has lost his grandfather this month I think she wanted to do something but was not sure what.

All the ideas and suggestions have been very useful, and having talked to them, we are now thinking that 3 candles on the table with the wedding cake and bouquets may be enough, as we will know what it represents but will not be too upsetting or obvious for those who don't.

    Thank you again.
  • I really like this idea and will be doing this.... http://offbeatbride.com/2013/03/saved-seat-memorial I hope this helps and that you have a lovely day!

We have 4 people who can't be at our wedding.

My mum, my partners mum, her dad, my dads wife.

I wanted one place at the top table setting for them but the mrs feels its a bit grim…

We are having 4 pictures in nice frames on a small table with a candle on now somewhere separate...

Not quite the same as a "rememberance table" but this is how we did it at our wedding in 2010. My elder son gave me away and my younger son gave the FoB speech as my dad died in 1991.

We bought a barrel of real ale for the reception, with all donations for a pint going to Cancer Research as I have lost both parents and DH lost a close friend to the illness, plus we have some survivors amongst friends who were present. DH wrote a short message to explain this, encouraging all our guests to enjoy the ale & to donate, which the venue printed and put onto each table along with the menus. The total donated was double what the ale would have brought in if sold over the bar.
