Advice on Pip please

Hi all, I put a claim in for pip at the end of october 2013, Atos received it by the 4th December. (After them somehow not receiving it electronically from the DWP) I still haven't had a consultation. . I did try ringing atos the other week asking if any cancellations were on offer.. but was fobbed off and spoke down to, I only asked as I would require a bit of notice so a nurse can come with me. Im also due to go back in hospital for few days respite.
Just wondering how long you all waited for a consultation? I understand its a lengthy wait & again waiting for a outcome.
Many Thanks

PIP assessments are taking an extraordinary length of time.
If you are not terminally ill - it seems like 6 months may be bordering on optimistic.

contains an overview of the first statistics released.
In short - for claims made from April-Dec 2013, as of December, under one in six had been decided.
  • my support worker applied for me in August, had my assessment late January, and got my enhanced award about 2 weeks ago, suppose I should count myself lucky. I am not terminally ill, it was a mental health assessment. Best wishes.

Hi there, i still haven't heard anything of Atos. Is it normal to wait this long still? Ie have they got any closer to getting through the backlog?
I am so scared of attending assessment (i am currently on ESA support group - with the disability premium & haven't been required to attend a medical since first claiming 2 years ago)

I would like to say that it's not normal, and you should apply for compensation.
Unfortunately, extraordinary waits like this are common.
It has been reported that getting your MP involved may help.

After waiting nearly 11 months for my assessment (due to various circumstances), I contacted my MP - on a Thursday. I was phoned by ATOS on the following Monday and a home assessment was arranged for the following day! Contact your MP, explain how long you've been waiting, etc, and hopefully you'll get moved to the top of the pile and get a quick assessment. Good luck x

Hi Gemma, I involved my MP with my PIP claim and I emailed him- the address was on his website. If you google your MP they should have an email for constituents to email- mine went to the local office for his party and was passed on and then he emailed me from his Parliament address. Hope that helps :)
