ESA Uprating letters

I got mine in January and about a week later my council benefits sent me a letter saying they had stopped my council tax benefit due to my change of circumstances. What change of circumstances? Nothing to my knowledge until I remembered the ESA uprating letter and concluded that that must be it.
I had to send the original uprating letter to get my council tax benefit restored. What a silly business and waste of paper and resources.0 -
What drives me nuts is that, for the past two years, and continuing, is that my ESA department need me to send details of my private pensions to them - even though my contributory ESA is not affected by the pensions (due to when I first claimed IB, the pension offset rule doesn't apply to me).
I receive absolutely no means tested benefits, so my pension details are totally irrelevant as far as the DWP are concerned.
They agree with me that the whole thing is pointless and creates unnecessary work for them, but still they need me to send them! All they can do is file the details and then request them again next year.
If the government cut down on all this nonsense, the welfare bill would plummet....:wall:
Whatever happened to simplification and joined up government?
The red tape us getting worse, not better.

You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.

The best part about it was that the uprating does not come into effect until April, which means the benefit that I was receiving had not changed! It would not increase until April and it was January when they suspended my Council Tax benefit claim. Therefore no change of circumstances ATM so there was no reason to suspend the claim. Absolutely madness but I think they know that.0
