Moving home = BT SIM code issue

Afternoon all
Finally managed to exchange recently so we're set to move in a few days. Ordered a new number with BT to go live on completion day with a view to ordering fibre from Zen (my current ISP) ASAP.
BT gave me a 10 digit SIM which Zen said is invalid as it is part of a 17 digit code. Apparently it must be 10 digits. End of. Went back to BT whereupon their Indian tech support said all their SIM codes are 17 digits. Ran this past Zen and they said nope, BT do this time and time again and I need to cancel/re-order. Called BT again and they say there's nothing wrong with the SIM code, they're all 10 digits and not 17 (despite what India say) but have cancelled the order anyway. Now I have to wait until Monday.
I'm sure others have suffered this and unfortunately I can see myself playing tennis between BT and Zen.
Are BT in the wrong? Or are Zen not checking correctly?

Not sure what you mean, if you are moving home then your ISP Zen should just transfer your existing broadband to your new number no codes are needed, a MAC is only used if you are changing ISP's.
Once your broadband is transferred you can then ask Zen to change to fibre if it is available at your new premises.0 -
What you need to request from BT is a LORN. (Linked Order Reference Number)
This links the BT pstn order with the adsl order from another internet provider so both line and broadband can be connected together on the same day (Sim provide)
The codes usually start with the letters DFQ.
If BT Retail have not added the sim provide reference to your line order then you will need to cancel the order and place it again asking for the sim provide to be added and to generate a LORN.0 -
The code itself has different names. Some call it a SIM code/ref, others call it a LORN. Some begin with BTC, others with DFQ etc. I just wish BT and everyone else involved stuck to the same language/protocol and worked together to get things done. Shouldn't be difficult re moving home in 2014?
Ended up re-ordering BT number today but have to wait until tomorrow to see if the code works.0
