have not done a credit reference check, is it worth doing one ??
if so who`s best to do it with, can i do it online ??

dont know how long i beeen paying regal..
the £8 standing order as finished, going to try and get it set back up ---is that a good thing to do or should i just leave it...??

i admit i owe the money but not to this company allied..
natwest card actually took the debt of regal credit and they said allied have the debt but she never actually said they had sold the debt to allied, natwest never said much to be honest.

regal are sending me a statement so i can see what they say i have paid and what i owe...

Good

i am no longer paying to regal the s/o was cancelled at the bank, but i might see if the bank have details about the standing order and start paying £8 a week again to regal... what are your thoughts on this...??

NOt until regal have proved

a) that there is still a debt outstanding. You have paid £416 a year for howm many years? on a debt of £1200.
b) that they have the right to collect the debt.

think i am just upseting allied as they probably dont get this much hassle from people....

Yeah - they are used to bullying people into paying when they do no longer owe.

i sent first letter ~(which they got today) they got till july 18th what do i do if i have not got my caa by then ??

You have to wait another 30 days (August 18) and then you can write to them and tell them that the debt is uncollectable, that they have to remove all traces of you from all their systems and repay you for any expenses.

Since regal are sending a statement, hold on my last suggested latter, but do not reinstate payments to regal until they prove that they have the documentation including the letter of assignment.

I would also suggest that given the age of this debt, there may be room to negoitiate.

In the meantime, get your credit reference checks done.

NEVER DO THAT

NOOOOOO

Kurjam

Based on what I have seen so far, this lot have been milking you for years.

Sorry, donot, do not pay anyone a brass farthing more until you have the statement and the legal documentation.

There is a good chance that you do not need to pay back one pennny more.

See martins advice on getting your credit check done

I have to go to a meeting.

PROMISE you will not ring regal or allied again today, or talk to anyone who rings you tonight, PLEASE pretty Please

As we're talking billions of pieces of data, there are always mistakes, and these can act like a hammer on credit applications, smashing everything. It's important to check your files as often as possible, preferably around every 18 months, or whenever you get rejected. And don't worry, even though doing a check is noted on your file, it never impacts your credit score.
Check all three agencies
While in the past just checking one was usually good enough, now I strongly advise you check all three. An error on any one can cause you a problem, and lenders are using a wider spread of agencies.

How to get your files
There are two ways to get your information, either by post for £2 per agency, or online. Yet online can be costly. The credit reference agencies used to content themselves with selling our data to banks; now they want to make profit from us too, and have all types of clever-sounding products, that they want us to pay for, yet actually aren't that useful. However, it does enable an easy loophole to get all credit reference files for free.

The statutory £2 by post method

The Consumer Credit Act 1974 gives you a statutory right to see your credit reference files by simply writing to them, with a £2 cheque, and detailing your past addresses. To do this write a letter and enclose a £2 cheque/ postal order.

Template letters

To help, here are template letters, ready to send, for each agency.
It is also possible to apply for your statutroy report through their websites, either online or postally. Experian, Equifax, Callcredit. Yet beware, they'll often try and flog you more expensive online products.

The loophole to every file, online, for free

The credit agencies' desire to sell us an ongoing ‘credit monitoring' service costing around £70 a year leaves a loophole open. To tempt you, they offer ‘free trials', which involve setting up a Direct Debit or regular credit card payment, in the hope you'll just let it drip from the account.
So sign up, then view your file at no cost (either instantly or after they've sent a passcode) and then cancel the subscription. Even though they allow 30 days, I'd do this straight away; leave it a month and you may forget..
The specifics for each agency:
<UL>Equifax. Its Credit Watch Gold* has two options, one at £7.50 a month, but the one to choose is the ‘Free for 30 days and then £69.99 for the year'. To request cancellation call 0870 0100583 and quote your account reference.

Experian. Its Credit Expert* offers a ‘free trial then £5.99 per month' service. To cancel, call the free-phone number 0800 656 9000, or email customerservice@creditexpert.co.uk

<FONT size=2><FONT color=black><FONT face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Callcredit. <FONT face=Arial size=2><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt; FONT-FAMILY: Arial">Its MyCallcredit has two services, the quarterly unlimited access for £8.95 or the Ealert which is free for 30 days (and then £44.99) and gives unlimited online access to your credit report during the trial. To cancel you should email care@mycallcredit.com.

Leave it at the moment. You cant do anything until the situation is sorted with allied next month.

i admit i owe the money but not to this company allied..

You owed £1200. You have been paying £416 for how many years? It looks like someone has been adding lots of interest or loads of charges. When they came to an agreement you should have been able to stop the interest charges or at least cut them right down.

natwest card actually took the debt of regal credit and they said allied have the debt but she never actually said they had sold the debt to allied, natwest never said much to be honest.
Until the CCA and letter of assignment turn up, this is not going to be soved.

Kurjam - it looks as if these thugs have done a good job in wearing down your resistance.
Have you spoken to any of the Debt Charities, yet? There are links to CAB, CCCS, National Debtline and PAYPLAN at the top of the main page.
These charities will give you FREE and IMPARTIAL advice. They can even act on your behalf, and it looks like you need someone to stand up to these bullies for you.
Do not, please, take this as an insult, or patronising in any way, but these people specialise in breaking down debtors' resistance, and will screw you for everything they can, whether entitled to or not.
