I took my elderly disabled Mum to A&E with a suspected broken foot.
I dropped her and my husband off at the drop off point outside A&E, then parked about 100 yards further on in a disabled bay with my Mum's badge clearly displayed on the dash.
Result: £70.00 charge arrived yesterday, from Parking Eye.
Apparently, I should have gone to main reception (not A&E) and registered my Reg no & Mum's blue badge number.
Unreasonable or what!!!!!!
Comments appreciated.

unreasonable ? yes , so complain to PALS and the trust
as well as that (if this was a postal charge only - no windscreen ticket) then send in an appeal using the template in this newbies sticky thread https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4816822
and read through it too
also read this flow chart as it may help you understand it better

Unfortunately reasonableness and fairness mean nothing to the parking companies.
Just a couple of quick questions, was this England or Wales? And I'm assuming that either you or your parter is the registered keeper of the car?0 -
Yes da_rule, England & I am the registered owner.
It states in the letter that this is private land. In the unlikely event that Parking Eye paid the full market value for the land, this has been subsidised by the taxpayer.
It really makes my blood boil!. Is it the intention of the NHS to make a patients priority when attending hospital getting treatment or avoiding parking charges?.0 -
ParkingEye probably won't own the land. They will be employed by the NHS to 'manage' the car parking. The ethics of this is a different matter and something which I am currently putting research paper together on (issues with patient confidentiality, duty of care to patients - preventing them suffering mental stress from this often unenforceable claims etc).
First thing to do is appeal to ParkingEye using the template in Newbies sticky thread. Then when they reject this appeal, appeal to POPLA and win if you follow the advice on this forum. A complaint to the responsible NHS trust can't hurt either. Feel free to post your appeals up on this thread to be checked before sending them.0 -
PE definitely wont "own the land" , they are managing the parking for the NHS TRUST , hence why I said complain to the trust and to PALS too
but get your appeal in to PE asap , dont get mad , get even , then learn from this experience as they infest supermarkets and all kinds of other "venues" as do Excel and many other parking companies
very few own land , but dozens "oversee" parking for hundreds of landowners , airport , ports , trusts , allsorts
bear in mind the EA 2010 protects the BB holder on private land so mention this in your complaints and appeals0 -

That is what you should be saying to the PALs office at the hospital, and/or the Facilities manager. There's a whole sticky thread on Successful Complaints at the top of the forum, in the stickies thread by Crabman, and lots of examples of Hospitals where fake PCNs have been cancelled by PALs getting involved and putting pressure on the right managers. Rattle those cages!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
