Plusnet vs BT

How does Plusnet Fibre compare to BT infinity? Is it just as good as its a lot cheaper per month

You would need a viewpoint from someone who has had both. But I will tell you that Infinity rocks. But as they both use the same fibre and phone lines I doubt Plusnet would be any inferior.

Thanks I know that the Plusnet router is not to be as good as the homehub 4 or 5 but its around £200 cheaper with Plusnet 76mb BB compared to Infinity 2 with anytime calls over an 18 month contract, excluding line rental

Yes Plusnet are cheaper. But it doesn't come with the bells and whistles of having Infinity, such as the hubs you mention. But they are going to get the full suite of YouView services. T1000's I believe, not BT's new G4 box.

So I guess it all depends on what you want for the money you pay (as with anything).

I have had Plusnet Fibre Unlimited on their 9 month offer now for a month, I came from BT Infinity 2 but Plusnet is much cheaper, no change in service,smooth changeover and to be fair Plusnet keep you updated all down the line, I cant fault them yet! I cam out of contract early but I went for the £100 Quidco offer/cashback which should offset that.

Bt comes with a dual band router.

Wifi voip app calling to use your free call package when you are away from home.

Bt sport tv channel.

Openzone wifi hotspots around the country.

Rather dodgy email sending server that makes it hard to send from non bt addresses (though most people don't notice as they use webmail anyway).

Plus.net has the worlds cheapest router, they sell for about 99p on ebay. However they have better customer service and when I went to fibre I stayed with them as they matched bt's latest offer and I couldn't be bothered with the hassle of switching.

Plus.net said they could tell I would get 48-52mbps on my line from my adsl stats. I ended up with 20mpbs which is deeply annoying but there you go.

So basically most people reckon plus.net is a bit better but bt comes with lots more bangs and whistles which may well be worth more to you. And working broadband is working broadband you probably won't notice much difference between them if everything goes well.

Plusnet here. Exactly the same line/cables etc that BT offer so no difference there. As mentioned if you want the extra TV services that BT offer then thats what you should decide on.

They estimated 68Mb. But i actually get 73Mb. BT engineer said his laptop was connecting at 80+ but my package was limiting me.

I can get download speeds of 8.6Mb/sec in my download program. A 1GB file in under 2 minutes.
