Some lessons to be learned here (hope they are not too expensive for you):

(i) Do not rely on the recommendations of friends.
(ii) Research someone before you part with your cash.
(iii)it is usually cheaper and less time consuming to do a job yourself rather than pay someone else to do it.

The car was a Nissan Terrano. Reg Y204 HBR.
You really wouldn't want this car behind you on the road, (unless the brakes have been done) I have since brought another Terrano, fantastic cars when you get the right one. (Well serviced and rust free)
