Name and Shame

After being the victim of a road traffic accident in October 2013, I found myself without a car. So faced with the daunting prospects of travelling around looking at rust buckets, I employed the services of Roger Green The car finder. If the impressive write up is to be believed, Roger Green takes all the stress out of searching for and buying cars.
Unique and personalised used car finding service reducing risk, saving time and saving money. I am 'The Car Finder'. 4N Area Leader & National Leader MIHM

As promised he searched the U.K for cars, and sent back a list with one in particular, one he had marked as recommended. This is what happened next. I transferred the money to a bank account that Roger keeps separate, until he checks the car out, and when satisfied pays the seller with my money. He then brought the car back to a garage in Nailsea North Somerset, where it was checked over by a garage. On viewing the car for the first time, I was none to impressed, the carpets were soaked from front to back, the rain was running in through the dash board, and to top it all, after pulling back the carpets, I actually pushed my fingers through the floor, lovely seats eh said Roger, trying to distract me from making a note of all the defects, Asking where is the indicator lens, and all the fittings, Roger informed me it fell off on the drive back to Nailsea. It was at this point I should have said I want my money back, but as Roger said he would get the welding done, and all the other things I pulled up. I never really had the time to mess around looking at other cars. One little thing said Roger, the brakes discs and pads will need changing in around 2000 miles. I told Roger before I take position of the car; I will have it MOT’ed for peace of mind, on hearing this, Roger sent a rather panicky Email trying to put me off
The results were staggering; the car was in fact a death trap. The Mot examiner had run out of space to report all the failures, (including dangerous brakes) The Advisories ran into two pages. (All this 2 days after one of Rogers’s car safety checks). After lots of promises, Roger Green has failed to pay all my money back. And therefore I decided, to add my name to all the many other customers, who have also been ripped off, and have taken him to court, in the vain hope they may see some of their hard earned cash back. Believe me readers, I don't intend to take any thing lying down. My next move is to have large banners made, attach them to my trailer, drive around Nailsea and Bristol letting the whole world know what he is. Am I a crazed angered customer ? not really, I'm doing what a lot of others wish they had the nerve to do.

You might do better posting this in it's own thread :)

ATA I've sent Crabman a pm asking him to split this to it's own thread.

    Is this a wind up?

I was wondering the same, the website for the person seems to exist:

    http://www.thecarfinder.biz/

But I can't believe someone would proceed with a car purchase when the car was leaking badly, the floor badly damaged, missing the indicator lenses and other parts which fell off during the journey, needing a significant amount of welding and the brakes needing imminently replaced..even if the OP didn't have much time I don't think they could have found a worst car if they'd gone straight out and bought one. None of it makes any sense, I can't seriously believe someone would buy a car like that unless I've misunderstood the post.

How old was this car to need welding? Price for the car and what did the guy charge?

Obviously they don't have cars for sale in Nailsea.

I don't get how this guy got hired if he has a string of people taking him to court?

Good luck OP but sounds like this guy is well known for it and has had your trousers down properly. You'll win in court and he'll not pay you a bean.
What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?
  • I hate threads like this where the op never comes back.
Went shoplifting at the Disneystore today.

Got a huge Buzz out of it.
  • So are you saying you handed over your money to a complete stranger for a car you hadn't yet seen on the say so of said complete stranger's website?

If you did, then no wonder you got ripped off.

To answer a few questions. I used a professional car finder, that was recommended, so I thought I was in safe hands.
The car he brought with my money £2895.00 had a new MOT ( he watched it go through) or so he said. When I looked at the car I realised I have been dealing with a idiot. he also came across as someone that sails very close to wind with his dealings, and I was in a very precarious position with him having spent my money and as he agreed to put all defects right, I thought this was the best way forwards and just recently having a new MOT it shouldn't cost him much. that was until I decided to have another MOT done whilst in the garage for repair. After getting a journalist to look into how a car can pass a mot and become a death trap in the space of a week. it all got rather interesting, To cut a long story short, Roger Green was fully aware of the car condition. Both Trading standards and VOSA investigated the garage that initially tested the car. Roger Green still owes me £1500,00
And today I received a letter from the courts, saying he is contesting the claim. (probably a delaying tactic) So hopefully we have slowed down one outlet of dangerous cars/ and taken one dangerous car off the road. There is no fool like an old fool. and I hope someone learns by my mistake.
