A fool and his money are soon parted.
If there was a chance of winning a few say £25/50 prizes, I may of put more money in.
To chase two top prize makes no sense.
The second million should have been broken down into small prizes.

If you insist on posting made up nonsense at least make it funny.

    Does this help?

I see now ...... as you have absolutely no evidence of your wild claim - you're really jealous of me, I didn't think of that as I'm just getting along with life - haven't got time to look at others and yearn - worse, I haven't got the time or energy to slag successful people off either.

I'm sorry you feel bitter, I am really. You may, if you diverted the energy you use in slagging people off, be as successful as them one day?

Many on here don't like to hear success stories. If you're better than them and mention your finances, you're the worst scum.

I'm, sadly, starting to see that now .... what a shame they are so angry with their own failures? :o

I'm old, and that's how I have accumulated my wealth (for what it is).

Maybe they don't see that, when they are elderly, they will also have some money?

Anyway, back to the £100k in Premium Bonds .... my thinking is that if only a small number of people have the new Max. then they have a better chance of winning than someone with a small amount of the old £60k Max. That's correct, isn't it?

2.17% gross (1.3% net as 40% tax payer) doesn't do it for me either.

I had some bonds for a while as I wanted to have easy access to the money and was hoping that I might have been lucky whilst the funds were in there.

Your right though, the low returns mean you only really benefit if your fortunate enough to win a big prize.

That said, it's slightly better than the lottery in my opinion.

Whichever way you spin it, you can't get away from the fact that the prize money is only 1.3% of the pool of money invested.

I know ....... but what am I getting in interest on £100k? Not much more really and no chance of any capital growth (as a win would be, tax free).

I did win a big prize last year, maybe that's got me going?

I have held bonds for around 56 years now!

    No, you don't have.

Anyone pathetic enough to come onto a forum and boast about their wealth is clearly missing something from their life, and anything resembling wealth is the prime suspect.

I did hold £30k once (about 15 years ago?) and although I did beat the average return I still thought at the end of the day that I was being a (albeit a lucky) mug, so I cashed them in. If they paid 2% I would consider it, but only as a bit of fun as I remember it was great seeing (and recognising) the envelopes when I got in from work and opening them not knowing if it was £50 or a large prize. I won plenty £50 and £100 prizes and a £500 one once. Not enough to make any difference but it was fun (for 5 mins every month).

EDIT: I've made two great investments in my life, and both were Labradors from a rescue centre, the cost was only £100, but priceless in value.
