Last night the sister's car was moved, so that has made me feel a bit better. We are going to try and have a meeting tonight, so hopefully all will be sorted soon. I am pretty sure it is the top floor that doesn't have a space, as the ground and basement say that they have theirs in their lease. Not looking forward to tonight at all, but we have to talk about buying the freehold as well, so hope to slip it in to the meeting somehow without it being the main topic. Wish me luck!

Write down all the points you want clarity on, - as these meetings can have a tendency to spiral off, - especially when emotion is thrown into the mix.
You want to go to bed tonight kicking yourself that such & such a point wasn't addresses or resolved.
It's also a fine line with neighbours in times like these between being as nice & diplomatic as possible (so as not to flare up the situation) and not coming accross as a push over.
Personally I would be looking forward to this meeting, - you want to get this resolved so you can get on with your life.
    Good luck.

Well, the meeting didn't happen as the girl in the basement wasn't around. She isn't actually living there at the moment as it is being done up. As soon as I can get hold of her I'll try again. Not feeling so stressed at the moment as the parking issue seems to have settled down, probably because she hasn't been around though! Thanks for all the advice guys, I'll post back if there are any developments, and as soon as I've managed to organize a meeting.

We haven't managed to have a meeting yet, but I have spoken to people individually. The guy upstairs kept us awake from 2-4am on Friday night, so I was ready to get some things sorted! The parking issue gets curiouser though. He has spoken to the freeholder and he has told him that all the flats have the right to park in the drive, and that its a free for all. I'm finding that hard to believe, but what can I do? We are all going to buy the freehold together, so we'll just see how that goes!

Sounds perfectly possible. Someone I know lives in one of 60 flats in a complex. Whenever any of the flats are advertised for sale, the estate agents describe them as having 'allocated parking'. The problem is that there isn't allocated parking, and what the lease actually says is that the leaseholders are permitted to park within the complex. It doesn't actually allocate a space to any flat, and in any case there is only room to park 20 cars.

Frequently people don't actually read the lease until they move in and only then find that they cannot park. They just believed what the estate agent told them.

Is there any way the parking area could be re-jigged to allow an extra car to be squeezed in? e.g. instead of three in a row facing the building, could you get two on each side, facing the sides, or at 45 degrees to the corners of the building?
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D
