MyHermes brings back the > 1kg price band

Since My Hermes has started doing this, Royal Mail have lost all my 2nd class recorded items. £3.70 for 2nd class recorded and the gamble of whether the postman will just sign for it themselves. Or £2.98 (prefer to pay 20p extra to have them collected) and be able to instantly track it the whole journey.

Royal Mail are cashing on the people who don't realise there are cheaper and better ways to send parcels.

I have used MyHermes for a year or two now and have been impressed.

However, the one thing that but me off a little was their last very big price rise had less than one weeks notice. It cost me money as I had listings running with bids based on the old prices . This return to the sub 1kg price is very good, and I worry they will jack it up again with little notice.

Just in case anyone was not aware some of the higher weight band prices apparently went up last week.I don't send many heavy items so am not sure which ones were affected and by how much. I received no email about this from Myhermes, but I have recieved 5 telling me about the new sub 1kg price.

Weights > Collection price > Parcel shop price (Royal mail small packet 2nd class up to 2KG and then medium packet)

0-1 KG > £2.98 > £2.78 (£2.80)
1-2 KG > £3.98 > £3.78 (£3.80)
2-5 KG > £5.48 > £5.28 (£13.75)
5-10 KG > £7.48 > £7.28 (£20.25)
10-15 KG > £9.98 > £9.78 (£28.55)

Also note that myhermes give £50 compensation as standard, royal mail only give £20 as standard, add £1.10 for compensation by royal mail for £50 compensation
