  • I've found cwshredder to be decent as well. Designed to remove CoolWeb adware years ago but still useful today.

I always do the following on a virus/malware infected PC:
    Start/Run
    MSCONFIG
    GO to services
    Tick hide microsoft services
Go through the list and untick anything you know isn't wanted (unfortunately this bit takes experience)
    OK
    Reboot

This turns off some less destructive crapware.

Does anyone remember when ad-aware was the "go to" spyware remover - before it got so bloated it became the thing it was attempting to remove?

Sorry - yet another question - how do I check which search engines are installed?

in chrome, go to settings, then search engines, and remove any others (for instance, I think Ask may be in there by default as well as google :)

BUT - you will have internet explorer on your machine as well, so do the same in that also ;)

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D
