Is it possible to port my existing BT mobile number to a new sim card?
Or is it only possible if you subscribe to a new contract?
Thanks in advance.

Are you just wanting a replacement sim ?
If you are, then just call your cust service and they will put your number on a new sim for you.0 -
I am with BT on a contract at the moment, but would like to go PAYG with a different network provider.
I have thought about buying a Tesco mobile sim card to put in my existing phone.
I wwas under the impression that when you bought a sim card,a number was already assigned to it.
So do you mean i need the PAC number from BT,then ring Tesco to transfer my existing number across?Sponsored by Tesco Clubcard Points !!0 -

Yes, when you buy a new simcard from the likes of Tesco or where ever they do come with a number on it.
You need to buy a simcard from Tesco (I'm using tesco has an example as you mentioned them) then as mentioned by jf2404, ring BT Mobile and ask for a PAC code and then ring Tesco up and mention to them that you would like to take your BT Mobile number over to themselves. They'll ask for the BT Mobile number you wish to keep/transfer and the PAC code and the mobile number that came with their tesco simcard - this is known as a temporary number.
They'll then transfer your BT mobile number over to the Tesco simcard replacing the tesco number already on it. This can normally take a few days but Tesco will give you more of an idea.
Also, until your minimum term contract with BT Mobile has ended (normally 12months) then you can't ask for a PAC code unless you pay the remainder of the contract. If you're already outside your minimum term contract then when you ask for your PAC code from them this also tells BT that you wish to give notice that you want to end the contract.
hope this helps0
