Why do people bother asking a question when they've already made their mind up?

It's a daily occurrence on here. Someone joins the forum; asks a question, they get a sensible answer from more than one poster; they then spit the dummy out because the answer was not the one they wanted; they then complain about how unhelpful the forum is.

If you 'know' the answer already, why ask?

You can't be a 'poor family' and 'arent poor'.

If you have 'sense in this field'; why are you asking strangers on an anonymous internet forum?

12 yr old trolls in school arnt required ppl who do work in the field are pretty simple, it's plain from the comments some don't know the law we have received the money however we r interested in the 'interest' if u arnt in the field don't rly need ur advice sorry to be straight to the point, carry on defending bailiffs UK supports u!

You say that people 'don't know the law', I take it then that you do know the law. Please tell us what the law is in this instance!

If you want professional advice, go to a professional and pay for it. Don't accuse the professionals of being '12 yr old trolls in school' if they tell you that you won't get this imagined interest back.

I'd be surprised that the current account is even an interest paying account.

Hi pretty simple I said if a bank paid u 50k by accident u said they'd expect interest which I'd agree, providing it was sat in ur bank. But to miss 50k for 3 years is highly unlikely we on the same road now?
The bank would not expect interest. This is where you are wrong. They would expect their £50k back but nothing more. Overpayments do not need to be repaid with interest. Just repaid.
Did the OP say his girlfriend sent money ? or did the OP say money was being taken from her account for 3 years ?

    You ignored post #6 then.

If the GF was paying by standing order then she sends them the money. They have no control over the standing order. If it was direct debit then they take the money and they have control over it.

Given that post #1 says they couldnt get hold of her to cancel it, that would suggest it was not a direct debit as they control that. So, either it was a standing order where she sends them the money or she was sending them a cheque each month.

You will be due thousands in compensation, you're so right and the company in question are rotten scoundrels.

    Is that better?

So, not only had that debt collector manned the phones late at night, there was also a manager available who could make a decision on your request and an accountant who could issue the cheque.

All that in less than 15 minutes! Now that is a very efficient and fast-acting firm!

(Or could it be you bullsh***ing?)

today the firm has agreed to refund her the money owed,

I think you'll find that this thread is about the possibility (or lack of it) of there being Interest awarded on this money.

The OP was not complaining about the original amount being refunded and stated from the outset that this had already been agreed. So not quite what you were alleging.;)

    The OP also clarified the position in a (now deleted) post;
