The big Ikea blue bags are pretty good as planter bags. They'll last a season anyway and only cost 75p. Fill to a good depth of soil, you'd probably need about five grow bags. Punch a few holes in the base first, add a few stones or crocks at the base for drainage and to weigh it down if it gets windy. Add some water retaining granules if you can and leave at least 2" a the top for watering.
You're okay to plant sweet pea seeds direct atm but a bit early for dwarf beans, you could start hem off indoors soon though. You could plant coloured ones for a bit of variety like Royalty (purple) and Sungold (yellow.)Val.0 -
I've been using the 99p black builders buckets for a few years now. 3 runner beans per bucket with bamboo canes , I wrap twine round them it helps the beans to climb. They can be a bit unstable in the wind but I just tie them to the fence and that sorts them out. A decent grow bag will fill 3 buckets. This year I am trying French beans in buckets too. I also plant some French marigolds in the bucket it keeps the black fly away. Once the first little beans are set I water weekly with tomato food.0
