T mobiles obligation to inform their customers any changes

I bought my I phone 4 on a contract with T mobile in 2010. I was paying £35.00 for 500 min talk time and 500 text and 1GB of internet usage usage. My contract finished in Sep 2012. I was unaware that T mobile has a cheaper tariff of £15.00 for 1000 minutes talk time and 1000 min text and 3GB internet usage. For almost £15.00 per month T mobile is taking £35.00 from me shouldn't they let me know of the cheaper available option instead of continuing to take money out of my account?can I ask them for refund someone please advice...

You can ask - but I think that I can already tell you what the answer will be. (And I think you already know this yourself anyway)
It really is up to you to manage your own finances, not for someone else to take care of everything for you.

I don't think they are under any obligation to offer you a cheaper deal when your the minimum term of your expires. Your contract is just that, a contract. You agreed to paying £35 per month for a minimum of 2 years.

After the minimum term most people either upgrade and start a new minimum term contract, switch networks, or switch to a cheaper Sim Only deal.

I'm with Orange and every six months they do a best plan check to make sure we're on the right plan. Do T-Mobile do anything like this? If so did this not suggest changing plans?

I'm sure this isn't what you wanted to hear, but I don't think there is any way you will get a refund from them :(

It isn't brilliant customer service but they will say "your responsibility to discuss with us" which ultimately it is really. By all means have a moan and a whinge to them and you might get a good deal but they don't have any obligation to inform you of cheaper deals.

As with other industries, existing customers subsidise more attractive dealts to entice new customers. Those that do nothing end up paying for that. Hopefully you've learnt a valuable lesson (same with energy switching - despite new government initiatives - and with insurance renewals of all kinds - I consistently get a cheaper price from my existing providers that their renewal offer with just a little bit of legwork). By coming on here you may draw it to the attention of others who are - er - complacent in such things!
