O/S Daily Wednesday 19th March

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Damp and breezy again. One day I may be able to hang washing out, last week's weather was so good and now it's back to its usual!

Had netball practice for the children after school yesterday and by the time I had spoken with the builder to sort out some things and DD had cooked a lovely chicken dinner it was about 8pm and I didn't have the energy to do any painting. WILL do better tonight.

Veggie fajitas for tea tonight, DD is back at work after 5 days off. She's been great, even painted a ceiling and went for more paint yesterday.

Keep waking up really early and then feel so tired about 2pm. Still I have the dentist today after school so that will keep me awake!

Love and hugs to all, take care. XX

Good Morning all and a bit of a grey day here at the moment .We won at the pub quiz last night which finally broke our dry spell that we have had since Christmas. We had two new folk join our happy band which was nice:) so another two bottles of wine in the stash.I save them all up until we have enough for each of us to have a bottle a piece. So far we have half a dozen so two more wins and I'll have enough to give all the folk who turn up at different times for our team a bottle each.
Well today is my big day as I see my consultant this afternoon at 3.00 so fingers crossed I get a date for my reconstruction op. I have stuck to my diet and lost just over two and a half stone since last August and am still losing steadily which he will be pleased about. So lots of positive vibes please chums that I get the go-ahead .
Right time to get a move on and have a shower and some breakfast.I wonder what the Budget will bring today ?

    Cheers everyone, JackieO xxx

    Morning everyone

    JO - good luck x

Hugs to those that want/need them.

Now light, very cloudy overcast with a bit of a chill in the air but dry. Washing on the line, not actually sure it’s a good idea and that it will get dry but at least I’ve tried.

DH up and getting ready for work.

Dinner last night was scampi, chips and peas for the menfolk. I had fish, jacket potato and veg. Forgot to get the meat out to defrost overnight so we will be having spag bol tonight and I will remember to get the meat out to defrost for tomorrow nights’ dinner.

Yesterday, work was another manic day in the morning but then did slow down in the afternoon, until 3.30pm then there was a queue back to the door so the doors wouldn’t even shut! Complete nightmare as the council tax bills are now hitting the mats and people don’t understand why they have to pay etc – we did just manage to get everyone sorted by 4pm when locked the doors. I’m only working until lunchtime and I’m feeling so grateful – I’ve never felt like this about my job before but we’re just having so much pressure put on us as people have left and not been replaced and people go off sick, we’re ok as long as no-one has holidays or is off sick – and in reality that just doesn’t happen! Onwards and upwards – I should feel grateful I still have a job.

I will do all the normal jobs when I get back from work later and probably just potter about this afternoon. Big car goes to the garage tomorrow morning – it’s having a service and MOT – has a warning light on which has to be fixed before it can pass MOT – it’s likely to be expensive so bracing ourselves for that!

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning all

I didn't manage to post yesterday but have just caught up.
busiscoming have a hug. It's not the end of the world, I'm sure your son will find something he's better suited to. We had something similar with our youngest. He has re sat this year but I'm not convinced Uni is for him, we shall see.
Hugs for the those with the black dog visiting, I'm good at the moment but sure he will be back. LW hope you have some doggy visitors to lift your spirit.
Lots of moving vibes for Molly's parents. jo good luck today will be thinking of you x

Yesterday was manic, I think probably overdid it. I was so excited to have my new car that I spent the morning wizz ing around to a couple of shops, I forgot that I would have to walk when I got there!
In the afternoon I cooked a roast dinner and a jam and coconut slice for tea and picked up a prescription for my daughter, picked my grandson up. My brother arrived with his wife at 6 and left about 9 ish. We where exhausted, and fell into bed, dh promptly fell fast asleep and I tossed and turned all night.
I am so fed up of not sleeping, that I'm going to have to give up and go and see the doctor, although I really don't want to take sleeping tablets, but I'm getting desperate.
I've got a list of things to do now I'm mobile but I thing I need to take it a bit easy.
I'm hoping to get on and buy most of the Christmas presents before we go to Australia in November as I don't want to come back and have to do it all in December (sorry for mentioning the C word:eek:)
Today I've got a restful morning and the dh is home at lunch. We are going over to mum and dads to show them the car and drop off dads birthday card and pressi and mums gift for Mother's Day as they are both at the end of the month and I may not get over again before then.
Wow I've chatted enough, have a lovely day :)

Good luck seeing your consultant JackieO,and well done on the weight loss thats great.
nmlc- I'm always forgetting to take the meat out of the freezer,
    Julie-good you sound a lot brighter :)

Nice day here in the North west, yesterday was awful, and the wind drove Lylapup daft- in & out barking at the conifers being bent about and plant pots blowing about.Just had a nice walk with her and bumped into another woman I see out with her dog sometimes so they had a good play, hopefully I'll get a bit of peace for a while as she's crashed out on the rug :D

Bangers and mash went down well last night & DGD cleared her new Winnie the Pooh plate.Really I got that one for her baby brother as its more of a bowl but she wouldnt use the other Mickeymouse one as it was blue!Have to hope BandM get some Minnie ones back in soon :)

I need a good hoover and tidy up today, maybe some gardening if it stays nice later.Hope you all have a good day x

    Morning to all :hello:
It started off a little overcast here but the sun looks like it is trying to get through, so fingers crossed.

jackieo - good luck for today, hope all goes well!!

Work again today 9am-5pm then off to see 2 of my aunties and cousins on my way home. Tea tonight is left over chicken chausseur with a jacket potatoe (found the packet mix in the cupboard that I had forgot about), OH loved it and asked if we could have that normally instead of gravy with chicken :T
After work yesterday I sorted out one of our store cupboards and made a bit of a list, one more cupboard to do. Made my shopping list for tomorrow morning and meal plan for the next 7 days.
Started to learn how to knit aswell last night (already had the needles and some wool), but I need some thicker wool if I am going to manage a scarf.
OH feeling a bit run down, I think the heavy workload is beginnning to tire on him abit, so made some jelly with oranges in for after tea to try and help give him a boost.

Time to do a bit of work, have a lovely day everyone.

    Happy Wednesday :j
Christmas is the most magical time of the year :santa2:

    Hi everyone,

JackieO, I hope you have good news this aft.

Busiscoming, I sympathise - I remember DS about 8 weeks before his finals at Uni saying he wanted to drop out. Thankfully it was just panic and he didn't.

I forced myself to go swimming this morning, stood in my swimsuit asking myself if I really wanted to do this, but I did and now I'm glad, just need to keep it up.

I want to sort out one of the kitchen cupboards and get rid of some things I don't use to make more room for my cake tins.

Is anyone else watching sewing bee? I'm full of admiration for the way they tackle some of those horrendous projects.

    Have a good day.
