My Oh and I will hopefully be spending 4 nights in Hong Kong in July.
Can anyone offer some advice in the best area to stay? I have heard HK Island, but others advise Kowloon.
Hotel recommendations also appreciated (budget at around £100 per night, a pool would be nice), as would any other general info / advice.
Thanks!

Doesn't really matter if it's on the island or Kowloon as the public transport is so good and convenient.0

i stayed in Kowloon at the peninsula , dont really matter what side just preferred kowloon side
public transport is mega cheap esp the star ferry , cross the bay for pence"If I know I'm going crazy, I must not be insane"0 -
peninsula looks lovely, but it's a bit out of my price range0

I prefer HK island but the hotels can be pricytravelover0

If you can stretch the budget, a suite at the YMCA is a fantastic splurge.0

It is many years now since I was in Hong Kong but we stayed at the Park Hotel, Kowloon. a very good hotel in a good position but I don't know about the price now.0

For position and an approximately £100 price tag it's hard to beat either the Excelsior or the Metropark Causeway Bay.
The Excelsior is getting a little bit tired, but it's position easily makes up for this. A couple of minutes walk to Causeway Bay MTR
In the Metropark you would want a harbour view room. It's an excellent view across Victoria Park to the Harbour and five minutes walk to Tin Hau MTR.
Both recommended from personal experience.
In either don't bother with an overpriced breakfast, there are lots of local cafes and coffee shops.
www.netflights.com tend to have amongst the best prices at these hotels.0 -
thanks people, i'll have a look at all of these tonight!0

Subscribing to this thread as Hong Kong is the top of my list for my October trip this year. I normally start off in Bangkok but I fancy somewhere different this time, even if it does mean spending more money.
Any suggestions for a 2 week itinerary starting with 3-4 nights in Hong Kong? One day I'd love to do HKG to BKK (or even SIN) overland but there's no way you could do that in a fortnight so that will have to wait until I have more time available.0
