This is going from bad to worse, got an email saying my first bill was ready, hurray! Just looked online, the bill is based on an estimated figure on the 1st of September, hugely over estimated I may add. On the bottom it says they are changing my monthly direct debit to £298 a month from £104!
I had submitted some readings in mid October and the estimates from the 1st of September are higher than the ones I submitted. Guess I'm on the phone to them tomorrow. What a farce.0 -

Well just had a call from EE, DD was been put back down to £104 as it was. Apparently they will only bill me on the 1st of September and the 1st of March, if I submit a meter reading 10 days before or 14 days after they will use that as they read, otherwise they will just use an estimate. No real point in putting any meter reads apart from that then.
Not ideal really, I am still going to get an another estimated bill for the 1st of September, seems very silly as I have just put in the actual reads, but that's the system apparently. The computer says no!
I wonder how many people actually log on and look at their bill. If I hadn't bothered my DD would now be £200 more a month! Hoping people won't check maybe?0 -
so that's 3 or 4 of us now that have had our 1st bill which included a huge proposed increase in future DD's, mine was down to incorrect info held by EE, nothing to do with actual consumption.
yes, they do seem to be correcting them to a more appropriate DD level when contacted, but makes me wonder why this is happening & how many others might be caught by this in the coming months.
i only logged on to my account due to comments on here, i never received any email to advise my bill was ready...0 -
Well, I think I will continue to submit meter readings each month, because I keep a running record of my energy costs and it's seconds to submit.
I do not find that Extra Energy is any more likely to over estimate than Scottish Power was. As previously mentioned, I've had a 13 year running feud with regard to attempts to over-measure. I have to say I think the algorithms used to estimate energy use are flawed. They take no consideration of unseasonably warm weather nor at what point in the month readings are taken. I believe it's very important to take readings just after direct debit payment rather than before.“And all shall be well. And all shall be well. And all manner of things shall be exceeding well.”

By us taking our readings each month enabled us to support our case for the dd not to be raised.0 -
My daughter had a meter reader yesterday so we will see what happens, maybe she will get her second bill - I still have not had one, not that I really care as I know exactly where my account sits.0

I have today received a welcome email outlining the switching process. This says it will take five weeks. An email to query why it is not complying with the anticipated 14 days + 3 simply received the reply that all energy company switches take five weeks.
Can someone enlighten me as to what has happened - I deliberately held off switching to avoid the long wait and expected that it would now be completed in the new timescales.0 -
I switched in April and although I could not check that my DDs were being received due to no web interface I could see they were going out.
A couple of weeks ago I checked again - at last! - web access to my bills and payments!
I was reminded by this that I had started paying DDs in April - but no bill generated yet.
I quickly took a reading and posted it online (08/12/14).
Not a lot seemed to happen so I 'phoned up, eventually getting through on the second attempt.
I explained the situation that I had been with them for over 7 months and felt that I would like a bill so that I could check my consumption and adequacy of my DD amount.
I was assured that a bill would be generated by the end of the week.
Over a week has passed and no sign of a bill being generated. I tried 'phoning but appeared to be 12th in the queue. After holding for 10-15minutes I was getting no feedback as to whether I was even getting further up the queue - so I gave up and tried to send a message!
This proved fruitless as whatever I put in the message box returned the error "Message not valid"!!!!!
I am singularly unimpressed at the moment!0
