I called them and was told the account will be operated online only. Anyone have any further details?
You can sign up to Extra Energy via here: http://www.energyhelpline.com/
Signed up Thurs 27th March, almost instant e-mail acknowledgement from Energy Helpline.
Welcome letter (e-mail) received from Extra Energy Monday 31st March.
Have rung them a couple of times, phone picked up within 30secs both times and helpful operators, a good start at least (sounded like UK call centre too, dulcet Brummie tones today!)
Our switch date is scheduled for 28th April, good timing as EDF fix runs out 2 days later! According to Extra Energy our final paperwork to sign should arrived between now and then.0 -
Signed up to ExtraEnergy last week and progress so far as follows:
26 March Signed up to switch from EDF Price Promise April 2014 to ExtraEnergy Sept 2015 v2 tariff via Energyhelpline
28 March Switch confirmation email received from EnergyHelpline
28 March Cashback eligibility email from EnergyHelpline
31 March Welcome letter, Terms & Conditions and FAQ's from ExtraEnergy received via email. All my details, address, estimated usage, annual costs etc as supplied/expected.
Email from ExtraEnergy advised that I should receive Welcome pack in about 4 weeks. All progressing well so far. Apparently meter readings can be supplied online, via email or by phone.
ExtraEnergy Tariff certainly seemed worth going with. Based upon my usage, options I considered were:
EDF June 2015 £1859 pa No early exit charges
EDF Mar 2017 £2051 pa no early exit
ExtraEnergy Sept 2015 £1661 pa early exit £25/tariff
Ovo 12 months fixed £1685 pa early exit £30/tariff
ExtraEnergy ony £53pa (3.3%) higher than the EDF fix that I am leaving.
Hopefully everything will continue smoothly.0 -
Thanks for the suggestion rogcal. extraenergy is now officially represented on this forum and we're ready to respond when needed.I've suggested to Extra Energy that it might be helpful if they have a customer services representative here on the forum to monitor the threads/discussions for any negative responses and have them step in and hopefully resolve any issues we may begin to experience.“Official Company Representative
I am the official company representative of Extraenergy. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues. You can see my name on the companies with permission to post list. I am not allowed to tout for business at all. If you believe I am please report it to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com This does NOT imply any form of approval of my company or its products by MSE"0 -
Just coming off the EDF fix like many others so i plumped for this deal instead of the OVO fix.
Sorry to leave EDF as i had no problems whatsoever with them but they are too expensive now.
Hope all goes well with ExtraEnergy!0 -

This now fills me with confidence there is a rep on this site and have signed up today to switch. Also under the hugeswitch I get £40 plus a saving of £38 a year. Also fixed until September 2015.0 -
EDF blue price promise April 2014 coming to an end.

04.04.14 email from energyhelpline requesting confirmation of request, replied same day
07.04.14 email confirmation from energyhelpline that details now passed to supplier
09.04.14 welcome email from extraenergy, t&c's/tariffs confirmed (all as per the initial quote) & transfer should take approx 4 weeks. a welcome pack will be sent nearer the time & meter readings on switch date can be supplied online/email/phone.0 -
I got a "sorry your leaving us" email from EDF on Monday and when I logged in on-line it said my contract had ended.
I haven't yet had the "welcome pack" from Extraenergy though, although the welcome email said 4 weeks from 19th March. I took a meter reading on Monday in case I'm asked for one at a later stage. This site has saved me a fortune :money: ...it's also cost me a fortune!

I am currently with Eon on their 1 year fixed version 4 Dual Fuel tariff. On March 19th I started a switch to Extra Energy's Fixed September 2015 version 2 tariff, after comparing on Energy Helpline. I received an acknowledgement from Energy Helpline, but after 3 weeks had heard nothing from Extra Energy.
I contacted Extra Energy and was advised that they had no record of my 'switch request' because during the period that I had used Energy Helpline there had been a problem with the 'system' and none of my details or any other customers details had been transferred to them by Energy Helpline. I was advised to go back to the Energy Helpline website and apply for the switch again, which I did on 4th April, receiving a further confirmation from Energy Helpline.
I received an email letter from Extra Energy yesterday advising me that they would be unable to progress my switching request because I am an 'Economy 7' customer.
I am not an 'Economy 7' customer and have never been one, although the Electricity Meter that is installed is a digital 'Multi Rate Watt Hour Meter' which records both day and night as well as total usage.
I contacted my current supplier, Eon, who confirmed that I AM NOT an 'Economy 7' Customer, but do have a meter capable of being on 'Economy 7'.
I have attempted to explain to Extra Energy that I am NOT an 'Economy 7' customer and never have been. They state that because I have an 'Industry Standard Multi Rate Economy 7 style meter' their system is only capable of dealing with my electricity supply as if it is 'Economy 7' and if I wish to switch I would have to go onto their 'Economy 7' tariff.
So be warned - if your meter is a 'Multi Rate Watt Hour Meter' or any other meter that is recognised by the industry as one which can be used for 'Economy 7', there's no point in you trying to switch to Extra Energy because unlike any other company that I have previously been supplied by, which includes Eon, EDF, British Gas and NPower, Extra Energy are not capable of coping with an 'Industry Standard Electricity Meter'!0 -
Ok started my switch today. Several years with EDF but the hike from the April 2014 tariff was too much. Oh , and the yo-yoing dd's , them switching me to paperless billing without asking , the randomness of when a bill will be produced and being an unpaid meter reader whenever it suits them even though a meter reader came a couple of days later. But apart from that...0

Just signed up, had been mulling it over for a few days then found the comments on this forum. I also have been with EDF for several years but with the end of the April 14 tariff, the hike my dd (even though I am well in credit), and the poor future deals offered by EDF made me get off the sofa (after watching recording of last nights UEFA matches) and do something! I'll report on progress as it happens.0
