Well not the Sun. that's only fit to wipe your ar*e with.
I would second Autoglym stuff I use there glass polish for a proper clean and fast glass for touching up. Always works a treat.
I would strongly recommend against tooth paste as it has an abrasive quality and will scratch your windscreen, don't what ever you do is use washing up liquid as well.0 -
Windolene works well for me.0

Avoid any product that claims to clean glass smear or streak free.
Autoglym Car Glass Polish is a liquid that dries as a powder, is a little messy until you learn to use it sparingly, but is the best window cleaner there is.The man without a signature.0 -
Mr Muscle Glass Cleaner and kitchen roll works for me. needs a few sheets until it dries up properly... only problem is I struggle to reach the very bottom edge of the windscreen due to the slant so the corners dont always get done...0

Never use toothpaste on windscreen it will leave fine scratches and with permanent use you will get scatter glare from oncoming cars headlights.0 -
Microfibre cloth, used with a little water if the glass or bodywork is dry. Tesco, 2 for £1.29. No need for polishes or chemicals.
Here's how they work:

Mantis fast glass from JML seems to work for me, though I actually get more streaks the first few wipes after that it gets better0

It doesn't leave scratches - the abrasive in toothpaste is far too fine to do that - if it did it would wear your teeth away. Another alternative is Brasso !0 -
White vinegar doesn't smell as strong as malt vinegar and works well on glass. It's available in spray bottles in hardware shops like Wilkinson's.0
