Not the same but I get so much guff posted through my door, takeaway leaflets, those charity bag things, leaflets adversting random rubbish, and 1 of my cats launches himself at the door to grab/attack mail - my postman has had his finger scratched once....twice....thrice, but he takes it in good humour and usually remembers to not put his fingers right through the door. Cant really tell the cat off because it's not like he knows, he's a pest for taking parcels and hiding them though :rotfl:

Obviously the blokes first day on the job.
Steep learning curve, note to self, do not stick your hand through the letter box, dogs will bite you.
    Be happy...;)

Law is changing or even has changed.
Owner liable if dog bruises, scratches, attacks person anywhere other than inside your house. Crown court scenario.

I think a claim for compensation would be reasonable, if you have a letterbox which you expect people to use, you can't have dogs biting people who then use it for it's designated purpose. There would absolutely be liability in this case.

I can't believe your friend rushed away and did not offer any assistance to the person her dog bit and was irritated by him.

She's only worried now that she realises he may have a claim against her.

The facts of the matter are that he will have a claim against her but that if she has House Contents Insurance it should cover her. If she doesn't have this or pet insurance she will have to pay for it out of her own pocket.

If she had taken the time to help the person there would be less chance of them claiming against her.
