Any idea on the price of the Aldi version of Southern Comfort please Avstar or anyone?
How much is ordinary Martini and also any copies please?
I know that most of my friends will probably bring wine so I dont want to buy any.
Already got half a bottle of Peach Schnapps, we have had it a while so am not going to buy another. Nobody really drinks it, that bottle has been hanging around for ages!

I have one bottle of Cava that has been hanging around a while, can I use that in a punch type thing?
I have made a concoction of sorts before and it tasted really nice but we just threw anything in it so there is no way it could be replicated.

Can I come too? Stick the Cava and the schnapps in the punch (not all schnapps at once though!).

Normal Martini (extry dry) is about £4.00. Copies of it are usually called Vermouth (you want dry) £2.69 in Aldi. The Lambrusco is only £1.49 there too. I've just checked out their website.

    Asda - Vermouth £2.94 75ml bottle & fake Baileys £3.04. Southern Comfort £8.00.

Sure you can! Do u live in Manchester?
What is it called if I mix different drinks like you mentioned in your earlier post but I don't put any fruit in it?

M&S are doing an 2 for £20 on selected spirits (75cl), vodka, gin etc and with my discount that becomes £8 a bottle.
I can't get to an Asda as it takes too long without transport so it looks like I will be going to M&S and Aldi only as I have no time to go anywhere else.
I really wanted to get another bottle of Passoa but I have only seen it in Asda and it just takes too long to get there and I have so many other things to do.

Really appreciate the replies, these suggestions have been so useful and hopefully if it all goes well then I will be able to use more of them for next time!
Now I just need to get some food...

The Sainsbury version of Baileys is nice too, and on offer quite often.

Supposedly if you pass the contents of a cheap bottle of Vodka through a water filter it refines it so much that it tastes like a far more expensive one.

I read the tip on here some time ago but have never tried it and cannot find it (was a couple of years ago). Supposedly if you add a chopped up mars bar or say a vanilla pod or any other flavouring it can really improve it to nearly as good as the absolut flavoured stuff.
I have always been meaning to try this with a vanilla pod as I think this would infuse really well.

Considering the price of vanilla pods you might as well buy the real thing.

They are £1.99 for two in Julian Hargreaves and sometimes on special bogof, so still not quite the £13 that absolut costs. Might try some raspberry flavouring as my wife loves the raspberry absolut.

asda's dark rum is the best of the cheap supermarket brands.

Not as good as captian morgan - which is not as good as lambs - but the most berable. Im sure tesco simply add some colouring to white rum and pass it off as dark naval rum.

btw - they are chaning the UK manufacturer of Lambs to a factory in Halewood, liverpool which is known for selling cheap alcho-pops and rubbish vodkas.
It will be interesting if the quality of the product goes down.

I can also reccomend sainsburys and aldi's baileys, lidl sells some good quality malt whisky. Lidl has recently started selling some port produced in portugal - really nice stuff.
  • Aldi's Southern Comfort is nice, and is about £8.78 or summat! Also, the Lidl's Jack Daniels (was Golden Sun, now is Western something) is stunning, I cant tell the difference! Thats around the £8 mark too!! Lovely stuff!!

I love those stores for cheap booze, but did get a deal at Asda on Morgans Spiced Rum (amazing drunk), at Tescos it was well over £15, but Asda had it for £8 odd again! Brilliant!

For gin/Voddy etc, i usually just get the own brand cheapy stuff, cant tell the difference when with a mixer, unless your a raging alchy!! :D

Tesco do their own Southern Comfort, Spirit of Louisianna. Its really, REALLY nice, but at £10 odd, its a bit more pricey than the Aldi stuff, but possibly tastes that little bit more like the real stuff than the Aldi version (although again, when mixed with lemonade, and when drunk, who can really tell eh?!)

My mate bought me 2 bottles of Bundaberg, Australian rum back from his trip to Oz with him, £20 each!!!! Cant get them in this country though (well, I havent seen them) and its a gorgeous rum, but theres no substitute for this stuff!!!
