well this is funny as hell:rotfl: yeah i placed an order and crossed my fingers in the hope that apple might not notice the mistake but lets get a grip folks.in the end we were trying to rip apple off as we all knew full well that you cannot buy a 1 TB storage device for that price.

If anyone was to blame it would be joe bloggs who ordered 1999 1 TB storage devices as this kinda order is going to set off the allarm bells strait away.

move along people nothing to see here !!!

    Bye folks

I'm unsubscribing from this thread because I'm getting bored with the whole thing. I've had my email from Apple cancelling the order and I'll check my credit card statement when it arrives to make sure I'm not out of pocket. As far as I'm concerned it was worth a punt and I've lost nothing, but I never expected Apple to honour this as there are so many precedents and even case law to back up the position with "obvious mis-prices".

I might drop by from time to time to cheer myself up by reading people's rants, and I'll be watching the TV news with interest to follow the ensuing High Court battle (as being threatened by some people).

See y'all in the next "mis-price" thread for a repeat performance sometime in the not-too-distant future. :p

The labels would NOT count as an alternative product, since they are completely different. Also, you could say that taking the money is effectively communicating their order, and changing the order without telling us and then charging for that extra product is NOT a way to suggest an alternative product.

I still may phone up about this later and kick up my own fuss, I'm still convinced that they are legally obliged to send me the product that I ordered and paid for.

They have suggested an alternative product. Along with the 'Apple reserve the right to' etc, they are covered.

The money coming out, like I said, is covered under something different, and is not confirmation of acceptance under the distance selling act.

Even if you could prove it was, they have removed anything you could use against them after doctoring the orders as your order states the labels.

Your telephone calls will now be figthing for a pack of £1 labels.

It sucks, it really does, it borders on fraudulent practice. But at this moment in time, they are covered. Thats why it took 2 whole days for them to come up with this, they have covered every angle. We all wondered why the change of order, they say it's to cancel it, it's not, it's so theres nothing left for anyone to fight. Their lie about 'to be able to cancel' wasn't even believable. But, customers are screwed. They have acted within a very very vague law using lies, deciet and contradictory T&C's, but, the only things that counts, it's within the law.

When it comes to this stage, it's either stuff the customer or keep the customer happy. It's upto them how they allow their image to be viewed. They have chosen the lies and deciet route, dell on the other hand choose the 'keep the customer happy, it was our mistake' route and you get your misprice. However, Dell are very sharp! There was one the other day, was only there for an hour, I missed it. If you added Windows Vista, it took off £93 from the price, making a decent computer with 19" LCD, vista, gb of ram etc £160. Those that got in there, duly got their computers. BUT, dell had corrected within 45 minutes. So they actively choose to rectify the problem, whereas Apple just let it slip, then got around it later.

JUst checked my emails.Dear Apple Store Customer,We regret to inform you that your recent order for the Iomega 1TB Value Series Hard Drive. Which you placed on the online Apple Store has not been accepted.Due to a temporary inaccurate pricing issue on the store, the price of the product was listed incorrectly as £19.95. Whereas the correct online Apple Store price is £199.95 i.e. the listed price was approximately 10% of the correct price. We would like to draw your attention to clauses 2.4 and 2.5 of the Apple Online Store Terms and Conditions under which if Apple cannot accept your Order, we will contact you.Furthermore, we would like to draw your attention to clause 2.6 of the Apple Online Store Terms and Conditions under which Apple reserves the right to cancel your order in case of a price error on the Apple Online Store. We understand the inconvenience that this pricing inaccuracy may have caused you, and we sincerely apologize.Kind Regards,The Apple Store

Spikey, I had that email, but I complained, and a further email has arrived, telling me the money they took was for the Dymo stuff!

Strange, because the prices don't match, and their system clearly showed that the order was for a drive at the time they took the money!

As far as I can see this is just plain fraudulent behaviour.

Now whether I get a drive or not isn't the point any more - I've got a spare one in a box, and I can stick it in an external housing.

What matters is Apple's "sharp" behaviour. This kind of thing needs to be taken up by trading standards, and an example made.

Splodger, I assume you complained by phone because you can't reply to the email they sent you, and there is no contact email address on their website.
