    No problem. easily done. :)

From what I can tell, it's looks like even the 500 they've admitted to the 2nd time around is going to be a substantial underestimate in the end.

Hi all. Been a keen observer of this thread for some time and cannot thank everyone enough for their help, thus far with these scoundrels!

My plight, and latest is: having always deferred no problem (still well, well under the threshold) I received their ridiculous deferment forms. I chose NOT to fill this in and instead use the template cover letter kindly provided on here, plus my 3 months payslips.

Sent 1st class recorded, it was signed for 1 day later by Erudio. A month passed with no news. I called their 0113 no. and spoke to a nice lady who stated my application was being processed and not to worry. My deferment date ended on 9th May, having sent my details on 7th April. Yesterday I returned home to find a letter from Erudio stating all was ok, however until they receive my SIGNED application they cannot process the deferment.

Just called them again, spoke to someone who sounded half asleep, told him the reasons why I shouldn't have to sign something that was never needed to defer in the past, but he kept repeating what he was obviously being fed - without a SIGNED form they will not process. I asked to speak to supervisor.

After speaking to him (to be fair he spoke pleasantly) he repeated the mantra but assured me nothing would be reported and it would not affect my credit rating IF I remained in a deferred state, which I would be in once I return the signed form. He also claimed that SLC also held the same rights to contact CRA's but 'chose not to make it public', like they have.

After me stating it's all well and good communicating this verbally with no comebacks, he now claims he is not getting one of his minions to draft me a letter confirming that I will not be affected negatively via CRA and ratings by simply signing the form and being in a deferred state.

He also stated that I don't need to fill out the rest of the application as I have provided enough evidence (my 3 payslips) to show I can be deferred - they just want a SIGNED form back.

So....what to do now? Wait for this letter, then return the form, signed? Not sign it? To be honest I'm really fearful of it and it's all wearing me down - exactly what they want, but I'm hoping to apply for a mortgage in a month or so and don't want anything to jeopardize it at all - should I sign and be done with it?

This is an awful weight which has been unfairly placed on our shoulders!!
  • Well just by luck or goodfortune I have stumbled upon this thread today.

My student loans have been sold to Erudio and I received Deferrment paperwork about a month ago - which I duly filled out and returned (I didn't look carefully as I filled it in like I did previously with SLC) I did add in direct debit details - which I never had with SLC - as it appeared like I had to.

I do not work - I am a mother to 5 children so my husband works to support us. I have no earned income of my own - no child benefit due to hubby earning just over the threshold so I usually just get him to scribble a letter out saying he pays me £x a month to do with as I please.

I have had nothing back from them in over a month except for a letter on 6th May confirming my DD details and that my first payment of £31.34 would be taken on 10/06/14

Does this mean they haven't accepted my Deferrment? They haven't said anything to me and as I have no income of my own then surely I am entitled to the deferment. These loans were taken out in 1994/95 and 1995/96

I have emailed them to ask what is happening but as most of you here I have no answer.
Can anyone offer any advice thanks x

    *unlurks*

At the end of March I sent off the template letter with my three payslips rather than use the deferment form - like all of you I was unhappy at what they were asking me to put my name to. I heard nothing for well over a month so I decided to cancel the DD that Erudio had *cough* kindly *cough* set up on my account in place of the SLC one. I'd heard so many horror stories of people having money taken that I didn't trust them.

I still hadn't heard anything by 1st May so I contacted the Financial Ombudsman who said they would contact Erudio on my behalf.

I came home today to another deferment pack! The cover letter says: 'Thank you for your recent communication, as requested please find enclosed a new deferment application form.'!! I don't quite get where in any of the communication either from me or the FO they got the idea that I wanted another goddamned form!

Back to the FO for me I think :(

Some tests for any potential Erudio rep.

    • Admit that legally you do not have to use their forms in order to be eligible to defer. A letter with the required evidence is legally sound.
    • Admit that it is not a legal condition of deferment that you have a direct debt it place. Nor is a breach of the agreement that entitles them to refuse deferment or call in the loan.
    • Admit that a P60 is not required. 3 months wage slips is all is needed.

If the rep fails on ANY of those or tells the usual lies then we will know we won't be able to believe one word they say.

    .

    .

We are waiting Erudio. Do you have the guts to come clean?

Guess its up to you, but if you sign it your giving them the permission they require to share your details as they see fit. If your loans are pre 98 they have this permission anyway so your situation will not change.

Only people with loans taken in 98 and onwards will sacrifice their rights by signing the form.

Its probably no big deal to give this right away either, as countless loans from 97 and earlier can be reported anyway, and no-one worried when taking out the loans initially.

BUT - if like me your loans are all 98 onwards, then they can't enforce a change of conditions. If your stubborn and dont like being pushed about, then you can stick to your guns.

Erudio want us to sign so they can give details to CRA's so that they'll get info back in return.

Erudio have kindly sent me overdrawn by taking approx £180 off me - they haven't sent me out deferrment paperwork yet and haven't notified me that they were going to start taking the Direct Debit.

I am not a happy bunny.

at least I think this is the case, wording on 97 and before is a bit confusing. Can anyone confirm?
