    It's certainly a new one on me.
  • Interesting Fermi... I assume that when you click submit, it will not submit your form until all mandatory fields are filled in (signature or box ticked to say you have read their interpretation of the terms and conditions). New tricks, same old Sh1te!

    And check their cookie policy. I certainly wouldnt want anything from Erudio on my computer that they can identify, hotlining my computer to their data centre. As a (personal) data collection agency, that is a pretty big red flag. But i do lack accurate info on what it would actually mean in reality about such things that maybe someone more in the know could comment on.. Here is Erudio's cookie policy:

    I am also rather confused about whether they will actually be sending out DAFs as usual or if we have to request them?
    "You can complete an online DAF by requesting your account details from one of our customer service representatives and then registering for the customer portal. Alternatively, if you have already requested a manual DAF, your account details will have been provided." (my underline)

    Id also suggest reading its privacy policy, here is one gem that should put the fear of god into anyone. I know this is true for most sites, but i think it takes on a slightly more sinister angle when you consider our relationship with these scumbags who have purchased our government loans and seeking to collect as much information as they can on us to get a return on their money somehow. In the same way whether i am a homeowner or not is none of their business, i certainly dont want them inserting anything onto my computer or collecting/connecting my IP address. As for that cookie, it would be interesting for someone good on computers to give it a good analysis to see what info it actually is agthering. To say trust is at an all time low for me with them is obvious, so i would really like to know. Heres is a snippet of the privacy policy anyway:
    Other general information we may collect from your site visit
    Whenever you browse the site, read pages, or download information, our computers automatically record certain information about your visit from the device you use to access the site.
    This information does not itself identify you personally. However, if you have logged into an account on the site at the time that we record this information, we will be able to match these details back to you.
    The information includes the following:
    • The date and time that your device accesses the site;
    • How many and which pages you visit during a 'session' on the site and how long you were on the site;
    • Your Internet domain name (this might be the domain name of your internet service provider such as aol.com or your place of work) and the Internet Protocol ('IP') address (this is a number assigned to your computer whenever you are surfing the web) which allows you to access the site;
    • The web browser you use and your device's operating system; and
    • The site you were on before you linked to the site (for example, Google, if you found us using a search engine).
    When corresponding with you via HTML capable e-mail, we may use 'format sensing' technology, which allows us to determine whether you received and opened our e-mail. This may involve the collection of certain information such as the IP address of the computer that downloaded the email; the time the email was viewed; the type of browser that opened the email; and the identification number of any cookie on the device previously placed by us (see our Cookies Policy, for further details).

    Seems like they are anticipating some username problems:
    "When you register you may choose your own username and password. If we accept your registration, we will confirm the username that you have selected. If you choose a username that is in use or inappropriate, you will be asked to choose another username."

    Only had a quick look, but it looks like a dual purpose data gathering exercise to me! A slightly more convenient deferment process at a cost of Erudio gathering much more personal info on you!

    52% going 'in favour of the consumer', so thats about 48. I wonder how much that costs them.
    This online deferment may well be more convenient but it also a) cuts their costs and b) helps them collect much more personal data on us. Its another trade off, both cheaper for us and them, with them gaining more data for their files. Not that i have anything to hide personally but my concern from the very start has been this information they are collecting on us and how they are using it (selling/trading it) within their alliance of associate companies/third parties.

    (93 -25) x £550 = £37,400

    Assuming no other discounting or exemption, and that figure represents all cases that reaching fee charging stage.
