I thought that modern day student loans were sold on the basis that they are collected from salaries once the threshold is reached? If these are then sold on to scum like ESL, doesn't that just represent a huge mis-selling scandal in the making?

It wont make any difference, if its government policy, they'll just plough ahead. Only widespread publicity/awareness can make something like this stop. And even then, in this current climate of business first, it might not make any difference (look at fracking) but its about all we have.
To be honest, i am sure a focus on the general policy of selling off student loans, using Erudio as an example of why it will be a nightmare for all the millions involved, if it were to be published or focused on in a few national newspaper columns, would make a huge difference.

As a ray of hope to people who are completing their deferment forms at the moment and feeling anxious about how it will all go...

I sent my DAF application off last week with Royal Mail Signed For - major panic when no signature appeared on the RM website - emailed them with no reply yet.

Was dreading having to send the whole pack off again by Special Delivery so emailed Erudio to see if it had arrived - they replied, they had the form and deferral had been approved - all inside a week, and over the bank holiday!

Leaving aside for a moment all the political issues, that's a hell of an improvement on last year.
Hope everybody has the same smooth experience.

Can I just add to that - I've received confirmation of deferment within a week too. Vast improvement.

and with the dropbox posted DAF as well, nice one BaffledByErudio! Lets see what happens now after the first responders have been deferred. Lets hope they keep up their duty and get their operational side of the deferment process right.

I didn't ever worry about how long SLC took to grant my deferment but now I'm waiting for the postman every day, I've got split loans! I have no idea if a few weeks is a long time or not (and don't really want to know!), I have a vague idea that it did used to take them a while,I think, but it always turned up in the end. It didn't matter anyway I've always been well under the threshold and didn't have any DCA threats hanging over me!

    Still not received my DAF.

Deferment is due 15th May, though considering i've got a compliant in with the FOS this may have stopped then bothering me until that is sorted.

You should still get your DAF. It seems to be a continuing ploy to send out the DAFs late and give people less time to defer. You can use the DAF at the dropbox link, someone was already deferred using that form.

I'm not going to be using the DAF anyway, I'll be doing the letter and payslips route again. Just wanted to received it before sending them the letter.

I'm never signing anything for this DCA.

Good on you! How did you get them to defer you without the form last time?
