I received a reply to my tweet asking @MSE_Forum for an update on all this. Apologies for the short delay letting you all know, the response landed onFriday, 5th December:

"Hi! Our News team's forwarded the forum replies on. We expect it'll take a while to review all feedback received".

So, something else to add to the growing list of “Thing’s I’m Waiting for Erudio to Do”……. :(

Anyone think a FMLOL approach might be the answer? If yes, has anyone been successful? If no, why not? Thank you for your help/replies.
FMLOL is for people who have no genuine argument to put forward. You hear about people claiming that FMLOL worked but it is a placebo effect. A creditor who has a shaky case to begin with for a small sum of money may just decide to give up because a delusional FMLOL is just too much hassle to be worth pursuing. Quite often FMLOLers have no money whatsoever so even if a judgement is made the creditor cant get blood out of a stone. It's not the quality of the argument that matters if you have no valid points in the first place.

We all have a valid argument, use the law properly instead. Do not destroy your case by trying the FMLOL.

Do not give in and use their form. Follow your plan and Bob's yer uncle!

I phoned three times throughout November asking Erudio to send a deferment form only at the third time of asking did they email (rather than post) a form.
The current account whose details SLC used to have is now closed. I ummed and arred about completing the direct debit part- eventually I did as I dont want to risk damaging my credit record. If they don't process the details in time and they ask me to pay by card if I pay by credit card (cashback card of course) would that be processed as a purchase or as a cash transaction?
    ...anyone?
on the other hand I could tell them where to go as my income is below the threshold for deferment.

PS: re Erudio claiming spending on credit cards or accrued savings is income- if that were the case HMRC would be wanting a slice.

  • The last option, dont give these vultures anything unless you are entitled to!
  • Would hold of signing anything yet. Some news from the DAF discussion thread from Anthony Reeves:

'I am acting for a client against Erudio and it has been stated in correspondence by Erudio that:

"you will be aware that the DAF is currently under review following customer feedback and consultation with moneysavingexpert.com, BIS and other stakeholders and that the particular provision involving consent to register the loans at CRAs to which you have objected in your earlier e-mail has been deleted from that discussion draft."

The draft I saw on this forum in early November does not agree with the above statement. So has there been a new draft of the DAF provided since then?

Which I am sure you will all agree is EXCELLENT news!
  • Hi there

I just received a deferral form, but not a revised one. Therefore not sure what to do, As my current arrangement runs out by Jan.

I remember reading on here that people have successfully deferred by crossing out sections, however cannot find that post for the life of me (typical when you need it)

Can anyone remember if it was on this thread? If so i'll keep looking :)

    Cheers

I've just calculated my income again and even though I'm earning 18k, my ctc childcare allowance will take me over the threshold again. I'm ready to cry. I already budget like hell and I'm a old school money saver. ( boil bones for stock etc.

Managed to find a previous post of mine on this, way back on page 39, post #775 - hope it's of some help :)
  • Thank you Anna. You're a gem.

@dizzybuff - I had the same issue with SLC. I was about £80 over the threshold to defer due to childcare element of tax credits. As As result my account is in arrears, I do pay a small amount back each month though. However now my little one is in school I earn below the threshold now (due to no child care credits). I am worried thAt they will not let me defer due to the arrears, but will see what happens.
