Hi,
My partner and my step daughter are wanting to change their names to have the same surname as me - this site charges £15 and says that the paperwork is all legal and accepted by Passport Office, HMRC, DVLA, Banks etc.
http://www.theukdeedpolloffice.co.uk/index.html
Is this true does anyone know? Is it a legitimate site?

It's one of those scammers pretending to be official sites.
Try here for the gov.uk site.
So you're not going to formally adopt your SD? Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -
just write your own and everyone accepts it i have done it for friends and they have all been changed over fine none of the government places have batted an eyelid
situation with SD may be a bit more complicated as everyone with PR must agree to the name change depending on her ageThe only people I have to answer to are my beautiful babies aged 8 and 50 -

This is not true! I used this site last year and used the deed poll to change my name including passport etc. it was accepted by everyone.0 -
I've just put the address into scamadvisor.com and it looks pretty safe

You don't need to pay anyone to do it for you unless you intend to join the Military, in which case you need to get it signed by a solicitor. In all other instances a signed Statutory Declaration is all you need to change Passport, DL, schools, banks etc. Don't waste your money with these websites. It costs nothing to type up and print out a declaration yourself.“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0

There is no such thing as an official 'deed poll' or such place as an 'official deed poll office'.
Your step daughter and wife just need to write and sign a declaration stating that that is the name they wish to be know as from this date forward.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

I think Gingernutty means they are scammers as in they are charging you for a service you don't need to pay for. You could have done it yourself for free.
So in that respect, yes, it is true. They scammed you out of £15Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
So do I just need to print out this form and get it witnessed and that's it I can change my name?

I would never trust any website ending with co.uk that pretends to deal with governmental matters.0

I changed my son's name last year via deed poll and used www.deedpoll.org.uk
Never had a problem changing passport, pension etc.0
