Long but abortive telephone call to ASDA Head Office. Apparently ASDA can only intervene/cancel tickets if a Blue Badge is involved!
Have asked for details regarding ASDA's contract/arrangement with Smart Parking to clarify. Somebody ( I have his name) will, he said ring me back with requested information.
We'll see.0 -
Still awaiting the promised phone call from ASDA Head Office, not really surprised by this though.
Quote from the website for the shopping centre wherein which the ASDA store is situated "And easiest of all is the parking. With nearly 1000 spaces, you'll never be searching for a place - all FREE too!"
No mention of any restrictions.
If ASDA offer a property for lease at this shopping centre, am I right in assuming they are the owners of said shopping centre?
eta. Yes, I know about the assuming possibly making me an !!!!0 -

I would email the CEO of Asda instead then - don't do this by phone, In the sticky threads linked by Crabman at the top of the forum there's one called 'Successful complaints about PPCs', with a post #2 showing (among dozens of other examples) about 15 links to cases where Asda H/Office has cancelled a Smart Parking fake PCN, when the customer complains by email. And it gives the email addy needed in those threads, please read them to see how others succeeded already.
Remember the Blue Badge scheme doesn't apply - it's a Council scheme & means nothing. The Equality Act 2010 covers people who are elderly and those with long term medical conditions (if applicable) and the Act is of course silent about any need to show a 'permit' to prove disability or age-related need, for obvious reasons really.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Could someone please cast their eye over this, my initial request to Andy Clarke CEO ASDA prior to emailing.
Dear Mr Clarke
I am in receipt of a Parking Charge Notice, Number xxxxxxxxxxx issued 13/03/2014 @xxxxx by Smart Parking acting as your agent.
The customer services agents in the store involved gave incorrect and conflicting information on two separate occasions regarding the avenues open to the customer to have this cancelled. Telephone call to ASDA Head office proved equally abortive and I await the promised return telephone call to provide clarification of certain queries that were raised.
I’m sure you are aware, this is a simply a speculative invoice and the Registered Keeper will not be paying the sum involved.
As a long term customer of ASDA (in excess of thirty years) on the rare occasion throughout this period Customer Services have been utilised, customer satisfaction was achieved promptly and efficiently.
To maintain this good record of Customer Service, please give this situation your attention and effect a cancellation of the invoice with Smart Parking.
Yours sincerely0 -
