New SOA

Here goes - i have a next account with £959.97 outstanding on it.

I was supposed to be paying it off with a backdated payrise which i got but as i have split with DH it only have £500 to pay to it. I now have a new SOA (I needed to do one as a single person anyway).

Here it is:

Income
£1382.12 (this is between wages and tax credits)

Outgoings
Mortgage - £400
Policy - £22.55
Policy - £28.65
Fridge/Freezer cover - £6.25 (finishes in Sept)
TV licence - £11.61
B&C - £27.21
Gas & Elec - £101 (changed so should go to £90)
Diamond - £41.70
TV/BB/phone - £73
Gym - £26 (cancelled after today)
O2 - £15 (PAYG)
Shopping - £160 (£100 main monthly shop then £15 a week)
Council tax - £85.50 (this is with my discount)

sub total - £972.35

Debt
Egg - £50 £2000 os, 21% (approx)
Barclaycard - £35 £870 os, 21 %
Nationwide - £65 £2300 os, 18%
1/2 secured loan - £125 £22000/14yrs left

Subtotal - £275

TOTAL - £1247.35

= £134.77

I am hoping to get £150 a month of DH for the 2 boys ages 3 yrs and 4 months. To me it's not a lot - does anyone know what i should expect.

If he were to give me this it would leave me with £284.77

My min payment to Next will be £40 approx but i'd like to pay £80. I will only be able to do this if DH gives me money.

I know you will see that i do not have money put away for christmas/birthday etc. I also need to have enough for £90.70 for my car tax every 6 months.

I was thinking £60 - £80 a month. Every electrical in the house is covered as is heating etc.

I do get an odd shift in a chippy meaning an extra £60 a month which is where i assume i can make and £80 payment to Next. If i don't get this it will be minimum.

I know it will be pretty tight but i should be able to do it.

He is staying about £25 miles away and doesn't drive so i'll be asking for petrol money when he sees the boys - is this normal?

As you can see from my sig - i use quidco etc to get cashback so i'm doing what i can at the moment.

Any new suggestions are appreciated.

Oh - also, my friend told me my shopping budget is too adverturous. She said £70 for main shop then £15 for top up. I need to buy nappies, baby milk etc.

    .

Right - i've tried to explain better. I use the OS board and have martins books so i'm kinda on the ball for everything.

My gas and electricity is the cheapest i can get. I live in a 3 bed semi and as I am on maternity leave, I am at home all the time so gas and elec are on all the time. I am very energy concious so nothing gets wasted.

Virgin tv/phone/BB - this is a new contract. I use my phone all the time so i'm on a 'talk all the time' package. BB is my life line at night time and TV - well i do have V+ which i love. I have a 2nd box in the bedroom which i will get rid off.

    Thanks for the reply

    Hi,

I've just read this but about the child support issue - this seems pretty low. I agreed mine privately with ex but have you looked at www.csa.gov.uk ? I think it's 15% of income for one child and 20% for two but have a wee look. hopefully you can agree something between you as it seems to take an age going through them.
also I can't see childcare - do you get this free from family?

I'm on maternity leave at the moment and won't be going back within the next year so it's not an issue at the moment.

I hope when i do go back that i will be able to get a job with backshift hours meaning DH can watch kids. Either that or weekend work. I want to leave my options open at the mo.

I am worrying though as i am hoping to get a job with First Direct or Morgan Stanley. Both a big employers where i live and offer good pay and hours. My credit rating isn't the best so i want to make it good in the next year before applying for other jobs.

Is the 20% of his wages monthly?

thanks for the line - i'll take a look

That's good, I hope you are making the most of the summer and not worrying too much about money! my son went to nursery from about 1 year but it would have been great if we could have worked out something like you suggest.
CSA - I think they based it on weekly so surely must be the same for monthly?

Thanks guys - 20% is working out at £170 a month so it's not far off the mark. i think i'll ask him for £200 and see what he says.

He will be paying 1/2 the secured loan on the house plus one of the policies on the mortgage.

At the moment his SOA is

    £1000 - wages

£120 - digs to his mum
    £125 - joint loan
    £150 - me for kids
    £28.65 - mortgage policy
    £26 - Gym
    £30 - Travel

He has loads of disposable income. Do you think it would be unfair for me to ask him to take on a 2nd job to help out more?

I know m y sister gets £100 a week from her ex for the 3 boys

Depends on how you think he'd react - if you explained it would be short term and you'd both be working to pay of joint debts then maybe he might go for it but if he thought it meant you'd be sitting around coining it in while he worked his butt off maybe not. I'm not saying this is the situation just how he might react! my son's dad is great and very reasonable but I know some people who haven't been so lucky, you know your situation better than us, I hope it works out for you.

When I split with my ex I was happy to have £200 per month for 2 children. However, he refused to pay me for 11 months and I had no choice but to go to the CSA. The awarded me £98 per week!!!! We have now come to an arrangement and he gives me £325 cash every month.

Check and make sure that your getting the right ammount.

Have you included child benefit in your income? That is about £120 per month.

    Yeh i have

I logged on to entitledto.com and they gave me rough figures.

I'm still waiting on my tax credits award coming through so my SOA is going on what this website says. Most people say its pretty accurate when it comes to tax credits so fingers crossed.

the CSA website says £170 a month because he would see the boys a lot.

I was hoping that when i get my tax credits this month i will be able to save it/pay off Next fully as both our salaries have been paid to the joint account so i'm not dependant on them this month.

It seems quite daunting when it's written down but i'm keeping a positive attitude and know we'll get through this.

    Thanks for the replies
