def get your own bank account sorted asap and get child credits + benefits etc paid direct into that - then ex can't touch it. A&L have £50 thru quidco.
  • Hi Headoutthesand,

I would recommend getting your own account and getting rid of any OD or lowering the limit as much as poss, dont forget that if he takes out all the money you are just as responsible for paying it back. My ex-oh froze our joint account right after he took all the money out and they wanted me to pay it all back (£700), luckily my mum saw that my marriage was failing and urged me to get my own acc sorted asap and i changed the CB and TAX credits to go in there, they are for you and your children not for him. Take Findingmyownway's advice and open an A&L acc through quidco!!

    Good Luck.

Sounds like it might be time to open your own bank account. If yuo had a joint one where all your bills go out, you can pay the required amounts in there and then your money is off to one side and he can't touch it.

Sounds harsh, but needs must sometimes. Have a look at Alliance and Leicester as they do a really good interest rate and I think that are still doing a referral system so you and a friend/DFW both get £50 (at least I think they still are!) But Martin has some articles on good bank accounts. It might be an idea to have a look at them.

We have a joint account with Bank of Scotland which all the wages go into and the bills come out of.

I've always had my own account with Halifax where the tax credits, child benefit, ebay profits etc go into but i am claiming my bank charges back on it so don't want to start switching everything to it incase they close it.

I started applying for the A&L account but stopped mid way as i have a very very bad credit rating. No CCJ's but a lot of defaults that won't clear for another 2 years.

I know i need to get an account as his name is the main one on the joint account.

Right - i AM going to do the application for the new bank account. Whats a credit search going to do and it suppose if i don't check - i'll never get shot of him.

I can't believe how petty he is being over everything. I know he's hurting but acting like a spoilt brat with a who cares attitude is just making the reasons for leaving him stand out even more.

Bonus though - cheque from Ebay came through in the post and i just remembered i still have to post my 3 phones to envirophone. It's only £27 but still more to through at debt.

    Hi HOTS...

If all u need the account for is daily transaction/DDs etc, try a basic account, as they don't normally do a credit check - no access to credit i.e cheque book, overdraft etc

Well i tried the A&L account and i got knocked back.

I have registered for online banking and just logged on for the first time today - it's great. I can see where all the money is going.

I feel like i have one big drama going on.

OH came home to see kids so i popped out to shops (essentials only), when i came back he told me that he saw on ebay (i was still logged on - he doesn't know my new password) that i had sold one of my bridemaids dresses and that the £46 would be going towards his CC as it's almost maxed out.

Didn't have the heart to argue with him but he's on to plums if he thinks he's getting any of the cash the bandit

    Debt wise -

I am happy that the dress has sold cos i've been trying for ages with no takers.

Found 2p on the street that went into the tub. Do you not think it's funny how pre LBM, you would leave coppers on the ground but since joining all these challenges every penny helps?

Went to the library to rent my weekly magazine - 67p saving went straight into the money tub

Got a few Ciao reviews, YOUGOV survey, Piggy clicks and some more comp entries from the comp board.

I'm going into Glasgow tomorrow so i'll take some of OH PS2 games to Game and see how much i can get for them.

I think this is Karma for him :rotfl:

  • i can't believe i found this post and am quite surprised at how positive i was being back then.

to update you, heres what's been happening:

OH moved back in and so was have been tackling debt jointly.

Ontop of this he has opened a River Island store card, run up over £200 but i made him pay off and close it on Thursday.

I ordered some christmas stuff on my Studio account but again, i paid it off and it is now closed.

OH cleared his overdraft meaning we only have the 1 joint one out standing.

I have some things for sale on ebay and have a whack of old LP's to get rid off so profit will be going towards my nationwide card.

I wish he hadn't moved back in cos things haven't got any better.

I am back at work full time. He is STILL suspended from work. I now don't get any chip shop shifts and my OT at work has been cancelled cos they have ran out of money for it.

My aim for tomorrow is to be more focussed.
