Currys sold me a box full of rubbish and refuse to refund/exchange

Hey guys, I bought a blender from currys, but when I opened the box it had rubbish and dirt inside it, in and around the packaging of the blender. I took it back but the store refused to refund or exchange. I contacted their customer services and they told me I had to return within 48 hours of purchase and as it was now longer than that it was down to the store's discretion and there was nothing more they could do.
I'm wondering if anyone can advise me on my options?

So did they sell you a blender with some dust in the box, or did they sell you a box stuffed with nothing but rubbish?

They sold me a blender with dirt, mud and debris in the box, not just dust.0 -
And how long was the period between purchase and you contacting them about this?0

Outrageous.
If they won't budge-trading standards.
Even if it was reduced I can't see how an item like that, in the condition described, could be saleable.0 -

Well thats what I thought, I mean selling something in that condition is pretty bad, but selling something that prepares food must be a health hazard.0 -
Why not clean it? Surely it would take longer to return it and correspond with Currys than it would to take the five minutes out your day and clean it with an antibacterial cleaning solution. We’ve had to remove your signature. I expect this will be the downfall of your complaint - why leave it so long? If I discovered something like this I'd be on the phone as soon as I got home!0
