Whats going on with Virgin Media BB

I am supposedly on 20meg BB with Virgin Media, however for the past 4 weeks my internet speed is kicking less than 300k, Today I had an engineer call round to try and rectify the problem, only to find this morning it was boosting at 13meg. the engineer replaced the power supply to my modem, did a check and still it was a good 12meg, excellent you might think. Until that is, I came home from work, suprise suprise it is now running less than 256k. Does anyone know what the heck is going on with them,? Nobody seems to have any answers, not even the engineer, let alone those "havent got a clue, 25p a min" technicians.

I have now instructed them to send out another engineer, but I think its pointless, there isnt much he can do, especially if when he turns up, its going to be boosting at its normal level, only to drastically drop later on in the day. Surely someone has an idea, it cant just be a case of congestion, I would accept that if it was dropping to say 2meg, but slower than a dial up modem!? That cant be right.

Why would anyone need 20 meg bb? I am on 4 meg bb with virgin media and sometimes find it slow. How are you measuring your connection speed?

I have 20meg as an upgrade from 10meg, I didnt ask for 20meg, it was automatically upgraded, but that is beside the point, the point is I am not even getting 1meg, yet paying for 10. Ultimate speedtest would be speedtest.net, although there are many others that all bring bak the same answer, except of course on the very day the engineer is due.

Additional, My sevice has now dropped to 101kbs, yet from 1am - 8am (as far as i can check before work), it seems to kick out between 6-8 meg, surely someone knows something about what is going on.

I have the same issues . Although dont necessarily trust those speed sites - they are grossly inaccurate . Try downloading something and see how fast it downloads .
