James has officially switched degrees now, so starting as a first year once more in September.
I didn't realise he was going for a switch. What was wrong with this course? What has he moved to? Hope this one works out. As far as funding is concerned, generally you are allowed the length of your course plus one year, so he should be OK. The deadline for applying for new courses is soon or may have even passed. So to guarantee the loan/ grant will be in place at the beginning of term you need to move quickly.Well the side effects are really kicking in now. I was puking like a sailor who'd just got his rum ration this morning.
Ugh. I hate this.

Not good at all
Is this a common side effect? Is there medication that can help?
The ideal prescription would be a couple of weeks off work watching football and tennis....
Edit: I know we have helped out NP in the past who are going through tough times. Would it be possible for us to give you a day off work?
I might be able to get some time off now as we got some really good news today. Mrs Generali landed her dream job!
This is a common side effect. I plan to spend the weekend watching pre-recorded football and watching the kids play. I feel a lot better than I did when I posted that but I still feel whacked. At least I got done what I needed to today.0 -
This was expected, wasn't it?:( Do they give you anything to help with the side-effects and the upchucking?
I didn't expect this although it is a common side effect. I've not been given anything for it.I didn't realise he was going for a switch. What was wrong with this course? What has he moved to? Waaay ahead of you there. I'm going to see the cancer doc on Monday. I'll suffer it over the weekend as I don't trust the pharmacist to give me the right thing. She recommended sun cream to block the X RAYS. The literature from the hospital specifically states no sunscreen.0 -

Actually it's auditor but she could easily become a forensic accountant post-qualification!
It's with the company she most wanted to work for too.
Don't knock it. She's achieved her dream. It doesn't matter how prosaic it may seem. I once worked with a woman who just wanted to own her own 3 bed semi in Streatham. Some people were really snide about it when she finally sold the flat in Brixton and bought it but I was made up for her (not saying you're being snide BTW, just to be clear).
I wouldn't mind being PM of Australia although I'm not sure I'm cut out for the democratic process. I'd rather stage a coup and install my self as Lord Protector of the Blessed People's Republic of Australia and New Zealand and the Nicer Bits of Indonesia.0 -
We had a fire in the airing cupboard that spread. It didn't completely burn down the house, but the smoke damaged everything. Obviously, some things, like stainless steel sinks, survive better than others. Top tip is to close internal doors, as it stops the smoke spreading.
Oh no! When was this, GDB?PasturesNew wrote: »£68 .... I couldn't believe it. I only went out for a £15 "dry cut" .... ended up having highlights done and a cut ... and no blow dry/finish. £68 .... staggered..... that was a "cheap place" as I'd done my research before I booked the cheap cut!!
Got the "newly qualified/junior" and the "colours at 10% off".... £68.... I won't be recovering this week..... or next.
If the £15 was what they quoted for a dry cut, then the cut that you had (including them washing it) will have been more expensive. So you'll probably have paid £45 for the colour and £23 for a wet cut.PasturesNew wrote: »I upgraded my bandwidth a few months back .... not checked it through my BT account to see what I'm using (it's always tricky to find so it's not something I look at more than once a year).
I did think of that .... but then CBA and wasn't sure about confidentiality of what I might be uploading etc.... so "left it".
I've no devices to speak of. A 4GB USB stick that contains my passwords (and is pretty much full) .... and that's about it.
All a faff
900 passwords can't possibly fill up 4GB. What else is on there?Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

James has officially switched degrees now, so starting as a first year once more in September.
I've also managed to completely begger myself, overdone things by a massive amount over the last week after neighbour started on me last week, it got me all OCD and I have been having a mass spring clean/chuck out old toys/wash down walls ever since.
Remind us what James is going to do now he's switched courses??
Please look after yourself, Sue. Your health is more important than clean walls.I have an off white granite composite Carron Phoenix 1.5 bowl. Wanted a white bowl and this fit the bill.
I have a stainless steel 1.5 bowl sink with single draining board. One day I would like to have a composite sink like the one I found when googling Tahlullah's sink - so there's no join between sink and surround that's difficult to clean. Not a high priority compared with other things that need doing in this house, though.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? ???? What X-rays was she trying to block? The X-rays that are your radiotherapy? I've no idea if sunscreen would have any effect on them - I doubt it but it probably depends on what wavelength X-rays they are - but even if it did, why would you want to block the rays that are being used to treat you????Actually it's auditor but she could easily become a forensic accountant post-qualification!

Well done Mrs Gen! :T:T:beer::beer::j:j
Ummm, is forensic accountant what chewy is?? Maybe that's the reason for his suggestion that this might be Mrs Gen's dream??
Feeling glad vicariously and in retrospect for your friend with the 3-bed semi in Streatham. Sounds much nicer than a flat in Brixton. Hope she has been very happy since she moved.Do you know anyone who's bereaved?
