After obtaining my new bike I have experimental proof: you can forget how to ride it.

    I never really learnt.

I bought myself a bike few years ago.It is lovely, Cream with a very proper looking basket on it. It has a bell and a milometer.

On the appearance front it is the cycling equivalent of an Aga. On the exercise front the milometer tells me it has done 6 miles.

You cannot cycle from outside my front door without getting involved in a hill. The clue is in the name of the road xxxxx Hill.

It's Generalissimo #1's birthday. Not something that can be moved.

SiL has previously used his birthday as a way of making a complete fool of herself. I would be completely unsurprised if she did it again. She stormed out of his 4th birthday party because some party bags we'd put together for her absent kids were literally 2 sweets short of the kids that were present. She then went round to where we were staying to abuse my wife. She's an awesome piece of work.

Fundamentally she's a failure as a person and as a parent. As a result she wants to drag everything down to her level so she can feel that others are f-ups too.

    Mash, one of them.

    Family can stink.

I really, really miss my sister at times. No one, but no one gets my sense of humour like she does. Of all my family I am closest to her. Sadly, the good times are balanced by very dark ones and we all suffered.

Does generalissimo the eldest want a big family thing?

I really think we should get a small nice hospital in herts. I'll travel for good care. :).

Uclh Macmillan house is where I went when I met no in London and after that, If I had to go somewhere I think that would rank highly, clean, friendly, attentive. I don't know what medical care for cancer was like, but the first layer as you go in is good.

Yes. His birthday, his choice. I'd never be so arrogant as to decide for him.

You're a better person than me.

I would have decided something super exciting for him that I could more easily stomach this year. :o

Anyway, as you ARE a nice person! I hope you don't try too hard and suffer yourself as a result. But I do hope he has a super day. :D

We are all sort of okay. DW had a bit of a cry this morning, but mostly she's been bottling it up. It's been very hard for her.

I'm sorry to hear that GDB. Hope the checkup goes smoothly for you.

GDB - sorry to hear of your loss, thoughts with you and your family. Also hope that the check-up goes well - and well done for getting it checked on.

Sorry to hear that GDB2222. It puts my whinging into perspective.

I hope the end was as well as could be hoped.

I absolutely don't think that you're making a fuss. You're an exceptionally fit young man, and you need to take every possible step to stay that way.

(I hope that the young bit doesn't come across as patronising. I just mean that you are younger than me.)

As for MIL's 'end', that was not too bad, as these things go. She had a series of small strokes over a period of a week and eventually lost consciousness. Then, whilst she was unconscious, her breathing deteriorated until over a period of several hours until it eventually stopped.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Honestly, I came into this expecting it to be torture for the first month, but I need to get fitter. One of the things I've found is that the diet has stripped away quite a bit of my baseline fitness. I'm still dieting but I want to be normally fit by the end of the year...

That's either a really deep sink or a funny shaped dog.

In any case, would it be odd and annoying at all other times to have a tap like this
(Not this tap but that sort of tap)

Over a utility room sink. I am guessing the hose would be annoying at other times, but useful for washing kiwis with muddling feet regularly, and not bathing them upstairs, worthwhile washing them more often and more interesting walks as a result.

Plus easier washing of bigger things. If I had a modern kitchen I'd consider a retractable head tap, but I won't here.

For the first time ever today I am considering a new sink. I have clung with love to this sink since we moved here. I wanted to refurbish it, and still do, but......I feel.....inspired toward change ATM......:)
