. Obvioulsy if you know who's introducing you, if you're not sure they know you well enought to introduce you, give them something positive to say about you.

"Nikkster has been doing interesting research in the field of "delayed ketoalkalotic effects in aldosterone-secreting adenomas" or whatever".;)

On occassions I have had to do presentations where the punch line has been unwelcome news . At times I have been landed in it.

I once had a very bullish CEO and arranged for him to explain the rationale and then announce the significant % and number of job losses to a group of staff. He managed to leave the stage without having said it. Cue me:mad:"there will be job losses" and " some of you will be told today that you are at risk of redundancy".

The same CEO who was faced with a lobby of staff/parents when we were closing a workplace nursery managed to leave them with the impression it would stay open. I turned up to a formal meeting at the nursery to pink & blue ribbons tied to the doors and "we won" posters. I had to tell them they had not...and confirmed the closing date and new arrangements. They ate me alive

'Scuse the cultural gap but what is a Brit?

It's a Jewish gathering where everybody stands around nervously and feels guilty.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

It's already rained this morning.... looks like the grass fairies were having a half day as the lawn's not a lush green yet. Maybe it takes 2 days.

We had a storm this morning although it is blown over now.

Poor duppy was terrified and would have the shakes. From early hours OH had to be down on the sofa so he could keep the duppy company.

It is called that now, but it is clearly far less harmful than FGM. It also has some positive health aspects. Still, as I said, everyone stands around feeling guilty about what is being done.

I get it now. Why do it if those supporting it feel guilty?

When I read this, I thought it summed up my experience of being raised a Roman Catholic.
