Anyone know if its possible to hire caravans for a day at your own house?

We have some friends come ing to stay and er, more people are coming than we have sofas for. Some have tents.....others....don't.

Or politely suggest that they can purchase a tent relatively cheaply from a supermarket/ Halfords etc?
If I live closer I'd happily lend you mine.

It's worth considering that some people (e.g. me) react violently when told to sleep in a tent.

So viva is exceptionally unfortunate in having to pay £25.

I'm almost tempted to do it for £25 an hour. It's certainly a lot more that I get paid for doing my own gardening :)

That's fine - I'd expect you to politely decline my polite suggestion and try and offer an alternative solution instead :)

I lived in a tent for 6 months and am quite passionate about camping as a result.

However as fellow Nice People I'm sure I could restrain myself if the point wasn't pressed.

I don't really get it, you like camping but you don't?

People knew there was no accommodation.....when the plans were being discusses. DH and I are giving up our bed and kipping with the doggies, then there is RP's room ( RP will not be here) and the day bed in the sitting room and the kitchen sofa bed ( that we might move into another room actually) This leaves some people short still. Its student days revisited.

You can hire a caravan - from a regular caravan renting place.... but they'd expect you to collect/return it. Or a campervan would probably be easier as there's no levelling etc so you'd simply drive it and park it. But it won't be cheap.

In Cornwall there is at least one business where they go out to a campsite and erect your tent for you, then remove it ....

It'll be a question of googling. However, you might be looking for something that doesn't exist in your remote area.

In all honesty, it might be cheaper to look for a cheap B&B locally.

What about some cheap camp beds inside....?

I don't expect anyone to be sober enough to drive. Or to be going to bed much before say, three. All these people have or still go to festivals and stay in tents there, thus, I don't see the tent thing as such a huge issue.

    Have found caravans. £300 q a week.

Hmm. Tents sound great, don't they! I need three 'sleeping places' I wonder if I should get a big tent with funny rooms or three little ones. Three little ones seems more private and nice to me? But.....I am NOT a camper!

I slept in a tent for about 6 minutes, and am very passionate about not camping as a result

    .....

I think the things that you mentioned may be better in different areas. Or maybe a more tuned on immediate next of kin gets more information? Certainly we had more information.

On your last point, it was all patient led, so if patient doesn't ask and blocks the key question the information won't be forthcoming.

This is why you are a NP, and I am not.

I would have shown an extra ordinary amount of interest in what RP was saying, asked relevant questions etc and asked for demonstrations on technique, until they had finished cleaning it.

Oh, or was doing it ( or the hob) . Just with total ineptitude and telling me it was disugusting I hadn't cleaned it all week.

( I haven't cooked since Sunday, RP is nor cooking for self four days a week when here......or buying in food) . This week RP has had hob food. :)

Oh, I did put an aubergine in the oven, but that's still fetid. :)

Rp got bored and has left hob half done, hob cleaner on half of it whinging and gone out.

    Shrug, I'm not hungry.

This is a silly game I will lose. RP will buy take away for self tonight, I will snap and need hob for supper tomorrow.

( note , I am meant to be taking it easy , I feel no shame about my cooker, any one of us could clean it.....I do clean the properly...on Fridays usually, before I cook for DH coming home having not bothered much ATM, and spit clean it when needed while cooking more.)

Ovens however are horrid. No denying it. :o
