Sorry but I can't see it that way. I just feel it's such a waste of all that hard work and determination etc. Such a pity it wasn't directed at something less destructive.
Boxing isn't for me, I would NEVER watch it. But then, I find watching many sports I enjoyed doing and wish I could still do tiresome too. Always have done. But I did used to kick box purely for exercise purpose and I do feel that its valuable for everyone ( not just girls but all NIce people) to have a defensive skill of some kind. It doesn't matter if its never I employed, if think that its better if its never employed obviously, I think that knowing ones body and strengths and attributes in different scenarios can be a life saving situation, or just one that gives you personal confidence......I dunno, choosing bread in open places in supermarkets,

We had a personal defence class, just one, at school, and it was PANTS. Seriously pants.0 -
For and I are grump and suffering froM lack of sleep. Not for the reason we don't mind suffering from lack of sleep but because some @*%~{]|^%> had a rave or party all night long starting in the wee small hours and the people from the co
Until ( because the police apparently will not get in volved) could not located them. For had 'misplaced' the car keys so we spent a long time looking for them and peering out of the windows ( views obscured by trees ATM' or at least, we couldn't see anything) dogs were barking and my head was pounding and my vision went and my ears were thumping and we though I might have to go il to hospital as the lack of sleep combined with my heads interaction with the thumping bass was not good.
This morning we are cross, but don't know who to be cross with. Some people passing have asked if we had a party last night, s sme people think it was us.
. We obviously look like we have had a good party then. 0 -
Sorry to hear that.... noise/parties, especially the "unknown" that you can't fathom the source of is a nuisance to people who are well and full of beanslostinrates wrote: »...

If I could get it past Mrs G I'd have The Generalissimos learn Krav Maga (sp?). It's the fighting art taught to Israeli soldiers, the idea being to inflicted maximum pain and damage in the minimum time.
Over here there is a sport on a Saturday night of punching someone in the back of the head and kicking them whilst on the floor. I'd like thee kids to have at least a chance to defend themselves. Also I think that the knowledge that you can beat the bejesus out of someone builds a self confidence.
Winter arrived at last today. The temperature maxed out at 15C. Brrrrr. I was trying to explain to the Generalissimos the joys of the British winter. The 3:30pm sunset, the cold wet weather etc. We're over this Xmas and the difference between expectation and reality are huge. I have promised that we will drive to any snow that falls anywhere in the country while we're there though. The kids have no memory of a sub-zero temperature.0 -

In the world of wierd coincidences, I walked past a hotel last night that had a big sign that welcomed the national Krav Maga team. I didn't know what it was until now.
I should add that I am at the flat overseas, so the coincidence is slightly less than it would be in inner Herts.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I did capoeira once.... it's a combination of dance and martial arts moves (without any fighting).
The deal was: one monthly payment and you can attend as many classes as he held.... but he was more interested in the "whole capoeira experience" which included odd music/singing/drumming... so I found I'd turn up to what I thought would be a class of fitness and 2-3 random bods would shuffle in with some drums and he'd stop the class while everybody had to sit round and learn/sing stupid songs.
Then he "got a proper job" and had to stop running the classes as he couldn't be in two places at one time.
Some months later I found out he'd started the classes again, but not told me (just told his 2-3 main friends really).... and I couldn't be 4rsed to go through it all again with the hideous weirdo friends/drums/singing malarky.... to me if you want to do that you do it as a structure (so I can not go to those classes, or leave at the time that bit starts).
It had the potential for classes on the beach when I started it - but that'd have required the classes to continue long enough for the weather to be right... and he was only going for about 1-2 months.0 -

A couple of mates do it. It's fine if you're happy to go into work with a broken nose etc.0 -
I start radiotherapy on Tuesday. I'm really not coping well with the idea.0

Aww.... so much pressure to "think positive" which is more deflating if you're not feeling that way. It must be tough, "so far from home" too. Everything's different, along with the natural worries/fears and everything.
We're rooting for you!0
