It always has to be on one reel to store it/get it started.... you don't leave it half way through ..... you'd forward/rewind it back to one reel to remove it and put it back in its case.
I would say that not everybody had such a thing - as they were quite pricey. So it was a middle-class and/or enthusiast only marketplace. I've never used one, nor knew anybody who did, but I did know of their existence.

That's how I feel most of the time - I only do stuff like work or other "must do" things. Today I have managed to watch Frozen with DD (lying on my bed propped up on lots of pillows) and am now going to manage to drive a short distance and sit beside a swimming pool while she swims, and I'm only doing that because she's dragging me.
It's no way to live. Have a dodgy hug from me. :grouphug:
Hope you feel better soon.
Lydia, I know you are not enjoying it, nor are the activities energising you but you have watched the movie with her and you are taking her swimming.
I rarely watched a film with DD when she was small, I would have wanted to be 'doing' something else whilst she watched it. Swimming was either swimming classes, on holiday or I took her and a friend to play at the pool, I would go in too as an adult was required but I was not lavishing undivided attention on her. Much of the time when I was involved in child activities that did not interest me, my mind was filled with work.
Our doing stuff together when she got my full attention was reading, baking, crafts, pony work and walking. She often had friends to play and we would take a friend on holiday - yes for her benefit, but also for ours as the little pals were easier to look after than an only child.
I think most parents have 'strategies' for getting through. Give yourself a bit of credit.0 -
Just can't get going this weekend / bank holiday. When I have a mentally draining week at work, it takes me time to recover. I can see what needs doing and what I'd like to do, but can't mentally move myself from the sofa. So far I've managed to put seedlings outdoors, have breakfast, try to make the varifocals feel more comfortable on my nose, and struggle against self-pity. I felt so strong at the start of the week and don't know where it all went

I made a list of things to do today. The first two items I still have to do, hoovering and ironing
I hate ironing and dislike hoovering.
Sometimes it is hard to motivate yourself to do the basics and you just have to acknowledge what you have done, even if other stuff has been left.
I have added some things to the list that I have done as displacement activities (made soup for freezer) and split walk the dog into walk dog and take dog to water meadows , so that now looks like two actions instead. Bathe chicken's eye is on the list and ticked. Prepare dinner - tick.
As I managed beggar all on Saturday I am happy with what I have done today, sometimes for whatever reason I think most of us have days when it is hard to get going.
I want to hoover and walk the dog again before my daughter gets in as she has worked all day today and it would be nice for her to come in to a cleaner house, and not then have to take the dog out but only do so if she fancies a walk.0 -

You are lovely.
Lovely , lovely . Lovely.
Ironing.
I love ironing, but only because I have kidded myself its a beauty treatment. I haven't done any serious irony for a couple of years mind you, been too dodgy.
I think you might have inspired me for something to do nest week.
Nice smelling ironing water is a huge help. ( its not housework its aromatherapy ) and good music or a film you want to see ( if you are able to iron and watch tv, DH says he cannot).
Ironing with nice smelling water in a cleaned room is a delight because the room smells gorgeous afterwards too ( though you do need to crack a window for steam, even if its cool) and if its cool its an especially lovely job because you get lovely and toasty warm.0 -

Thank you. I do feel I've done OK on spending time with DD today. She seems pleased too. And I did actually enjoy the movie. This evening I will spend time with DS - probably he will choose to watch NCIS, which is fine by me.
I was going to try to sort my house out today, having done no housework all weekend. But the cleaner texted to say she's not coming tomorrow, so I am having another day of letting it slide. I will do it tomorrow - not only the tidying but some cleaning as well. Some friends who know that it doesn't do me any good to be isolated over half term have invited themselves for supper at my house tomorrow - they are bringing the food so I don't have to do anything - so that will motivate me to try to make the place more welcoming.I made a list of things to do today. Agree with that. I hate ironing too, so I buy and wear stuff that doesn't need ironing. I don't mind vacuuming, but mostly don't bother unless somebody's spilt (dry) stuff. Everyday dust etc can wait until Tuesday and get done by the cleaner.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

I've done quite a lot of cleaning this weekend... in preparation for next weekend's visitors
I also avoid ironing as much as possible. I don't particularly dislike it, it's more that I just CBA. I need to try and be more arsed (and with less !!!!
) in general.
Anything I do at the moment that seems vaguely productive is just a distraction technique. Bad Nikkster

lir that is totally fantastic news. Really pleased for you. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Thank you.
I feel like I can say now things have been very very bleak and I have been feeling very very depressed and when we last saw GP I said 'I cannot stay living like this and I feel as if I will soon make a choice not to':o. Its all been a lot of strain over the last few months frankly. Which is very unfair as a lot of people have it a lot, very much, worse I just have felt as if MY limits have been stretched for too long.
Anyway. I couldn't feel less like that now. :j:j0 -
