I can't even remember when we put the offer in exactly but it was either the third or fourth week of February.

Shopping fest is right, I am just going to close my eyes and hold the card out I think!

Awww, it's probably best... for a quiet life.

Viva, I asked the question tonight.

His assessment is about 5'3" or 5'4" then wearing 1.5" cuban heels.

The world's most important issues addressed, right here on the NPT thread. Thanks Spirit.

I'm going to get myself a t shirt made that says 'taller than Putin in his Cuban heels'.

I can't .... mine would have to say "Not even as tall as.... without his ..."

    :)
    Or possibly "Even shorter than..."

Total school/exam run miles this week were in excess of 100, this is on top of the normal running around so non essential trips have been banned for the moment....this could cause a problem as Josh tripped and fell on some stairs this evening and has hurt his knee!

So the petrol cost is being problematic.

Well, what I really want to do is bang some heads together at your son's school and make them do their job properly. I can't do that, but I can help with your petrol.

    Excellent! Thanks Spirit. :)

Any more NP coming in on this? Actually, don't answer that here. I'll take this discussion elsewhere unless it runs out of bandwidth.

Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

It seems the more the bandwidth is increased, the more the site gets hit with spammers using it up .... so it's always "suck it and see".

I will sort it out one day - but the problem is that it was only intended for 1-2 days' use in the first instance.... and there's now stuff there that I can't port across to a new system .... and I'd prefer to start it from scratch... or do nothing.

So, for now, I do nothing. It's a big project to think it through and resolve it forever.... and my head needs to be in the zone for that really :)

Oh yes, you've explained it before. I wasn't complaining about the bandwidth, just thinking that we'll have to get it sorted before we get too close to the end of the month and it becomes impossible over there. It's fine ATM, so I've started a thread.
Gist of the "hidden/secret posts" though is reference to a particularly short, foreign, leader who has recently crossed paths with somebody known to an NP .... the question was raised of their diminutive stature and an approximation was supplied.

Um, yes. In the time it took you to post that, I read a bit further down the thread, saw the answer, remembered the question, felt stupid and deleted my query. :o Thanks for explaining anyway. :)

I'm a bit worried about The Boy. He's been very distracted at school and not joining in. I think it's a reaction to my cancer.

How do you know he is distracted and withdrawing? Has he said , friends commented or has school said?

Poor little chap, I expect he is worried. Hope you find a way to bring it out into the open.

My DD was 15 when I was urgently ill. She was never an extrovert, and bottled her fears up. Not recommended.

Agree. Both mine have had phases of not joining in (DS) or not concentrating well (DD) at school.

Hope you can help him find some more constructive way to deal with his feeling than bottling them up. IMO it doesn't really matter who they talk to, as long as they find someone that they're comfortable with, but it can be difficult to convince them that talking about it will help. My DS, in particular, was absolutely convinced that talking about any of it made it worse and that bottling it up really did make it go away (which it doesn't). How old is he now?

How is Mrs Gen coping ATM. Is she able to help the Boy at all?

Thanks for the thought Lydia, will reply over on the other side.....
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

When I was 5 or 6 my mum had to have an operation, as this was years ago it also meant a period of convalescence in a home miles away (you don't get that now!). It's a surgery that these days is keyhole and done in 1-2 days with no scars; back then it was an opening from belly button to middle of back with huge scars for life.

My dad used to take me and my younger sister to nan's and I had to attend the local school there for 5-6 weeks or so; my sibling was too young to go to school so stayed at home with nan all day.

I can remember being at that school and being at nan's and having my tea there.... steamed steak/kidney pudding at least once!

Dad would collect us after work. He couldn't cope with brushing our hair in the morning, so we both had it all cut off.

I am too young to remember when dad had his accident but it did have an impact on us. My brother had only just started school and it impacted on him and his education, so my mum got loads of flash cards to help him and to distract him.

The two year old me soaked up the information and from that time, every time I feel stressed or out of sorts, I find that gathering information calms my mood.

N.B The flash cards did nothing to help my brother educationally even if the distraction worked emotionally.....for me it opened up the wonderment of learning and gave me skills far in advance of my peers by the time I started school just over 2 years later. Whilst they were still learning to recognise the simple words (e.g. cat sat on the mat), I was reading books designed for children twice my age, by the time we got into second year infants, they had run out of books that would test me enough.
