And then there's the question of Veggie Slicers e.g.

I wouldn't want too many gadgets.... just one that does the stuff I want it to do, but without faff. Without having used any gadgets it can be a minefield to really judge which one is THE one to get..... and guarantee to be used/useful.
I need to read articles like this: http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/food-and-drink/features/the-10-best-slicers--dicers-7873531.html0 -
It could be worse. At least the cat wasn't called Mr Tiddles or something.

I'm not convinced by those veggie slicers - I've got one and it doesn't feel as versatile or easy to use as you might think.
When I cook red cabbage, the food processor slicer attachment gets used. Mum uses her processor a lot to cook pastry and cakes.
I wouldn't be without the dishwasher I inherited with the house. I have 6 plates / bowls and 6 place settings for cutlery, and 3 saucepans. It doesn't go often that often (probably every 5 days?) but in my tiny kitchen it means I'm not wasting unavailable space with washing up.0 -
This weekend I haven't used my mixer. The only thing I mixed was butter and cinnamon for quick cinnamon toast this morning for FIR after dairy duties, it would have been overkill . However I use it for things like cakes and biscuits, for houmous and marinades, for not wasting bits of cream is much easier to work up enthusiasm to whisk to freeze rather thinking...' Hmm, what shall I give them that benefits from a bit of cream'.
Mine is quite easy to wash etc, but I'd like a couple of spare bowls. I have to wash the bowl between jobs a fair bit, which, seeing I'm not even cooking that much is a bit annoying.0 -

I don't make cakes/biscuits ... only me to eat them, so it's best not to
For cream I'd have thought a stick blender would be a good way to avoid having to wash out (then dry) the bowl. I don't buy/use cream, so wouldn't have that problem with that ingredient..... but then I don't plan on ever buying a mixer..... just a processor.
Many many years ago I tried to hand-beat egg whites to meringues.... my god that takes forever....!
I don't make marinades....0 -
I'd not expect the processor to be used more than once every 7-10 days, but to take simple things to make from CBA to doable....
e.g. pizza dough - easy to make .... CBA.
e.g. batch of coleslaw in the summer - easy to grate .... CBA
So it'd expand my food horizons because I'm lazy.
No desire to be a kitchen goddess.... just want to make simple things that I simply CBA to bother with
And no shame in admitting it.
I love eating ..... scoffing. I get no joy from any cooking, or kitchens, or anything.... I just like the end result of hot food on a plate. The objective is therefore to expand the possibilities with the least effort possible0 -
Just put my phone in the washing machine.

I realised pretty soon after so I think I've just got away with it. It's currently drying in some rice...“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0

Google's advice : how to clean your mobile phone.
Apparently popping it into the washing machine isn't recommended. Who knew?“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

Absolutely no shame.
A lot of old style is talking about gadgets etc that I'd not use. I learned my lesson with the slow cooker. ( though I am going to try it again soon because there is something I want to try and the slow cooker seems a good way to try it.
I do miss an icecream maker. I think DH would love me even more if I had an ice cream maker.0
