As soon as it arrived our threadbare, bedraggled handle down quilt is off to the tip. I feel a sense of relief.
Keep it for dog bedding.... you've one that'll need a spot of comfort soon and will probably appreciate resting on something that smells of you.

They have settings like hoovers do. It isn't about how tall the grass is, but how far off the ground you want it to end up.

Kiwi destroys duvets, We always used duvets as extra bedding until he arrived. This year its got too much, its ridiculous, he's not too destructive but leave him with a duvet its .......snow.

Tbh, big dog wouldn't notice much anyway, but dog dig would LOVE this quilt. Its a good idea to keep it for her. Thanks. She can have it later, when she gets a bed of her own.

I don't know, but they do. I remember many times mowing the lawn in my old house after it had got rather too long, and the mower could only do about a foot at a time of the really long stuff, without having to come back onto the mown bit and try again, otherwise it would either struggle or completely jam. (Flymo type mower, BTW)

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Enjoying mental images - both of naughty Kiwi creating duvet snow, and of Dog Dog loving her lir-smelling quilt when she gets a bed of her own. :)

Humph. Can't sleep. Went to bed really tired about 10.30pm, and have been getting up and going to the loo and generally being cross ever since!

Decided to get up and have camomile tea - if you really can't sleep, then lying awake feeling annoyed about it seems a bad idea after a while.

I agree with both LIR and Lydia - I pay people to do things I don't want to or can't do, such as my accounts, or cutting hair, but not because I think these things are beneath me.

I'd love to have a cleaner, but OH is adamantly against them, he always has been.

I've just been woken up for the third time tonight, so you're not the only one that can't sleep NDG, but probably for different reasons.

Just made another hot chocolate, so will drink that and try to get to sleep again. I've given up on thinking I'm going to hit the office before about 3pm now (I wanted to leave at 1....), then I have a PR to do, as I've lovingly just been reminded.

I pay people to do what I don't want to do, too. Don't have a cleaner, but do have an accountant/auditor (as we're now legally in the position we have to be audited, first is probably for the best), and a lot of services are done through friends/friends of friends, so are usually a more cost-effective use of my time.

I'm going to stop rambling, drink this and go to sleep a while longer, so see you later!

Dearest chewy, congratulations on the news that has hit the wires overnight concerning your impending nuptuals. I am sure that you will both be very happy together. Though the fact that your chosen one is ndg rather than a female wrestler or film star has come as something as a surprise.

I have absolutely no problem with having a cleaner. I would rather spend more time with the Generalissimos. They're only young once.

I've done the job of office cleaner myself so can confirm it is not below me. I actually quite enjoyed it. You aren't micro managed, it's physical work but not too hard and it pays ok on an hourly basis once you figure in the extra money covering for people that call in sick/don't show up/quit on the spot. It's better than bar work, shop work or waiting tables. Those are horrible jobs in England.
