When I was in the 6th form, I wanted to work in the theatre in stage management, but when my parents found out they hit the roof and I ended up going to Uni after all.
With hindsight it probably was a better move but hey ho.0 -

DD only had a choice of two universities which did her subject and liked them both, regardless of the weather.
DH and I met in my final year at Newcastle University; so did quite a few of our friends, who are all still together though scattered around the country now.0 -
I still find it freaky that so many people met by chance. Does that mean that we would all have been equally happy if we hadn't had the chance and met other people? I worry about this. As much as I like to think that there is 'The One' somewhere out there equally wondering when they are going to meet me, the logical half of my brain says that there isn't a 'The One', it is just down to chance at the time/ times of meeting. Maybe you would have been less happy with someone else, perhaps more happy. No-one will ever know.
As I see it, if you're in a mutually happy relationship, just be delighted that your paths crossed at a time when you were both in the right place and mindset to click and enjoy it0 -
Yes, good luck and have a lovely day from me too Gen.Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Cartoon-wise, probably Long Distance Clara from Pigeon Street :rotfl:
Non-cartoon-wise: Can't remember. Another tick in the 'still not sure what I want to be when I grow up' box here. Possibly a DJ?
My parents never pushed us towards anything in particular (which was frustrating at times, but I obviously appreciate). I'm not sure my dad would have appreciated us going down the 'arts' route though - I remember him making a particularly inappropriate comment to an arty friend about careers in the arts
The only thing they wanted was for us to do well for ourselves. They are definitely very proud that we both have considerable mortgages!0 -

Don't we all meet by chance, really? Every moment is a sliding doors moment.
I don't believe that there was only one possible person for each of us, the odds of any of us meeting our one true love would be much lower. Not to say that we don't experience one true love, but at some point, most of us have already made our choice, so the other chances pass us by. For the right reason.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Ah Nikks, I moved into my "I want to be a DJ" phase shortly after moving out of my "I want to be Judy Jetson" one. Actually I really wanted to be an astronaut however facts conspired against me:
1) Not American
2) Not male
3) Not a fighter pilot
4) Not even remotely scientific
5) Total wuss
6) Scared of heights
7) Don't like rides like teacups, so heaven knows how I'd cope on the G simulator.
In short NASA dodged a bullet there. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? It was only when I went on a University open day and asked one of the maths students how they coped with studying something they hated and got the response, "Oh no, I love it" that the scales fell from my eyes.
I studied maths. It was obvious from primary school that that would be the subject for me. I think nowadays there are people choosing it who aren't in love with it, DS1 says they are the ones that go around moaning how hard it is compared to other subjects. I did suggest it to both my boys, but they don't have the same love for it.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
