I think the fruit thing has to be pushed aside now, peaches geldoff is dead, and fruit from an e generation seems a bit like it might be taste questionable .

A grim day. Mickey Rooney passed away too, but he had a good innings.

    Tragic family.

After a horrid weather day, suddenly the sky is cerulean, the light dripping mellifluous ly over the wet garden, which after all the rain is in full leaf now, and its glorious, but sharp and very breezy. I'm going to get the grass cut tomorrow, even if I have to do it in the rain. :)

    Ppfffft.

    House in amesbury now sold.

Seen a nother one but needs a super overhaul.

Seen a third that non res p likes.......but its built from asbestos. My protestations that its not the most prudent investment are being shouted down. :(.

I can see why.....market is pretty dry for something like non res needs/ wants.

I didn't want to post my opinion earlier, but now I can.

At his age what I'd be looking for is how well catered an area is for older people getting together. I'd be searching for groups that run minibuses for lunch clubs (e.g. Age Concern and local churches). I'd be looking for Memory Cafes and a Dr surgery just round the corner....

You need to ensure that socialisation can continue and that random/sudden Dr visits are easiest to sort out at the drop of a hat.

I've had a quick look - looks like that village does have the goods.

The whole room's supposed to melt .... I was disappointed when it didn't after the warnings it gave.

My parents are funny birds. I am pretty sure they'd both top them selves before joining anything. :(.

Non res p has sort of marbles, in that...never has had them and so long as has help with some things what really needs is cultural outlets.

Access to arts, ( poetry, theatre, visual arts) and adult learning would be good. Also voluntary stuff, particularly good would be stuff where literacy help was useful, especially with efl/tessol on a voluntary basis. One thing you mention IS particularly important but I think ok to find most places, and dr surgery is going to be a big issue. Non res p is still reg with my old GP surgery who are pretty amazing. Has had collywobbles about leaving them because access to primary care is so excellent. My parents both really like young people, as in......not old people, and include in their networks people of all ages. Res p has been spending a lot of time with a friends kid in twenties helping with overseas applications recently, and non res p has often taken other people's older kids on holiday. ( even when I was small they did that....just because they weren't great parents necessarily doesn't mean they weren't really great people, they really are for any whinging I do!) They are both social people and help ful people. I think a problem with aging in smaller communities and moving and becoming less able to get about, particularly if one of you, is access to social outlet of the type you find enjoyable.

I think non res p feels there will be no one to discuss Byron with for example. This is already a bit of a problem as getting about gets harder. There is only so much Byron I can take. And I try not to discuss the arts with them because it brings out the worst in me and reminds me I am suffering the same kind of cultural isolation in real life often. :(

I feel sad for the loss of Peaches Geldoff, and for her poor family. This generation are so vulnerable and such a waste that her young life is lost.

I am another grape for the bunch.

Getting up for work is hard, getting up when everyone else is lounging in bed is even harder :(

This is my week, this week.

Tomorrow WAH in the morning as the garage will come and collect my car, and drop off a courtesy car. Then into the office.

Weds, office all day. Then that is the end of the working week.

I feel like I have to pinch myself, as it seems much too little work.:)

Using old bathroom tonight. I just cannot seem to make the shift over though bath in new one works fine. I'll sort out cupboards etc this week I think. Encourage others to assess their stuff at weekend and do the same and get old one ready to rip out.
