ParkingEye court summons

I have just received what I think is a court summons in the post regarding an unpaid fine, I thought that by ignoring their letters they would eventually give up and go away.
I am really worried about this, and I really don't know what to do.
Do I ignore this letter too? The court is in Northampton and I would struggle to get there for a start.
Please, any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks

Don't ignore it, you will end up with a judgement made against you if you do.
Read the newbies thread. https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/48168220 -
Do not ignore it. Read the link directed by Nodding.
Don't worry about it being in Northampton at the moment, that is just the central office for all County Courts. It will eventually get allocated to another court and you can make representations oh which court is easier for you.0 -
read through this too https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4921615
has explanations and good links in it
you get the case transferred to your local court, northampton is just the main centre for processing (or dealing with it if you did not get it transferred)
PE never just "go away" , they are the biggest company for taking people to court , issuing more court papers than the rest put together, hence the parking pranksters books0 -
Also, this won't be a summons. Does the form have a title, like 'Claim Form'?0
-
Thanks everyone will read the links.
Yes it says claim form, and has no date or time of when the court hearing would take place.0 -
it should be similar to the one in the clicky links in the thread I linked to, a small claims form (a summons is for criminal matters , not civil matters)
the dates are not decided until you have responded or not
clearly you need to read lazydaisys thread and the prankster guides and then use correct terminology to avoid confusion ( so not the words summons or fine)
its over 18 months since you are advised to ignore for england or wales due to POFA 2012 in october 2012 coming into force ( so ignore is now for the ignorant
) 0 -
Don't worry about dates yet. That's a bit down the line. All this is is notice that a claim has been made against you. Court dates and times will be set later.
If you want to defend the claim (recommended) then you should have a form in the documents called a response pack. Fill this in and set out that you want to defend the claim. This then gives you 28 days rather than 14 to prepare and file your defence.0 -
1. It isn't a summons, it's a claim form. You only get summonsed for criminal offences.cherryxcokex wrote: »I have just received what I think is a court summons in the post regarding an unpaid fine, I thought that by ignoring their letters they would eventually give up and go away.

2. It isn't a fine. Private companies have no power to fine you.
3. The advice to ignore went out of date at the end of the Crimean War.
4. Nobody will be going to Northampton (unless you live there).
Had you bothered to spend a couple of hours reading all the newbie information, instead of rushing in and posting all those wrong assumptions, you would not be asking us to spoonfeed you now.
I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.0 -
Yes it is Redex
Oh god I feel so out of my depth with all this, how do I go about preparing a defence? I am not very good at wording things.
So my first plan of action is to dispute the claim, thus giving me 28 days right? the letter says I can respond to this claim online should I do this now?0 -

that is explained in the links you still havent read, hence all the naive questions
you really need to calm down and read all the info provided , then decide in a few hours or tomorrow what to do next and how to word it, stop rushing but ensure you have a plan by monday or early next week, including what people have already told you to do
nobody is going to do it for you, so sit down, read the lazydaisy thread an parking pranksters book , then decide , dont ask questions until you have done so because nobody is going to repeat what is in daisys thread or the prankster book
its not a race !
it may sound like tough love, but you need to deal with this calmly and spend some hours boning up on it, this is not to be ignored like you did with the PE letters , ignoring the PE letters is what brought this about0
