Nothing troubling about it, simple British based companies who are after British customers to spread their word should allow only british entries.
I think that mainly due to the amount of FB companies who are quite small but trying to make a living and if someone wins from thousand of miles away then its not going to get them alot of new business.

Fair enough, my point was just in general, as i know of a couple of fb comps where people from overseas have won and the owners were quite upset as they were hoping for local customers (its was their fault for not putting UK ONLY in T&Cs)
Either way wouldnt ever enter any comps like that as voting is 99% rigged by someone.
(i enetered one once and my entry was awesome but came nowhere due to the 'vote for me threads' on blogs etc)Still comping, after 2 heart attacks 4th feb & 6th feb, and a stent put in.. 45 years old only:eek:0 -
Hi everyone
Gosh I wasnt expecting to spark such a big debate but thanks for all the comments about it.
I completely understand anyone being sceptical about me posting on here, as I say my eyes have been opened to what people will do to win these competitions which is why I won't be entering any voting ones again, I've entered some writing ones which don't involve voting which is far less stressful! If I had a cunning plan to get sympathy from people here I wouldnt have waited until a couple of days before voting ends (voting has been open 2wks). And believe me I'm not clever enough to think of a plan like that!!! I just saw what this man was doing, felt v upset and thought I'd ask on here for advice as Ive read the forum for about 18mths now to find out about comps and seen that alot of good advice is given, I thought someone might know if there's a regulator of competitions but it seems there isnt. When I found out theres a vote for me area I thought I may aswell post there too but I tried to emphasise there to read my story and only vote if you thought it was any good, I'm glad some of you have taken time to read all the stories and voted for which you think is best which is how it should be! I think asking people to read my story is a different ball game to offering vouchers for votes and I'd never offer anything in return except my thanks. Ive advertised the comp on my twitter page which many of the finalists have done as there are links to do this below your story and I've asked local organisations to support me.
Of course none of you know me so those of you who are sceptical I see your point of view, thanks for the advice everyone has given, while the prize in the comp is lovely I'm not sure its worth the upset-ive gone away with a relative for past 24hrs so its been great to get away and not think about it and now I'm home I'll have to leave it to the comp organiser to decide if he's broken any rules but I won't worry about it too much -there are more important things in life. As I said I will have a lovely keepsake for my daughter and I've learnt never to enter a comp like this again!

I agree with others in that what you are doing is no better. You've joined simply to beg for votes and that is unfair to the other entrants. If the other person is disqualified, so should you be. If you believe in your own entry then it should win on merits alone. I hate that there is any vote for me thread on here at all. Its cheating.August-September 2017: Lots of stuff
