    Thanks all
Glad-no problem, didn't want to name the company or any details on here as wasnt sure what was allowed.
Yes I didn't want to go around begging for votes as I'd like to win because my entry is good so I've emphasised to my friends etc they should vote IF they actually like my story. I'll see if the company respond to my emails but so far nothing. I will not be entering a voting comp again now I've had my eyes opened to the lengths people will go to. You never no justice may be done as am still in lead but whatever way it goes I can hold my head high, at the very least I can frame the story and display in my daughter's room as a nice keepsake for her.

Sorry but asking people to vote for you on here is no different to that man having his wife ask customers to vote for him. Neither is particularly ethical and is the reason why i stay away from voting comps.
Starting afresh - comping as much as poss!

Hoping for: some beauty goods, clothes, amazon vouchers, anime, manga, wardrobe, fridge freezer, laptop, an ipad, vouchers for next, exercise goods, a uk break and a wee hol somewhere nice!
    Wishing all a little luck:beer:

I'm slightly confused... maybe I missed something, but your comp has over 300 votes and none of the others have more than 75.

Did they disqualify the other person?

Congratulations on completing and submitting your short story.

There are lots of short story competitions around that don't choose a winner by votes, they have qualified writers judging them.

When there are competitions where public voting is required, many of my writing friends won't enter them, because it always comes down to who knows the most people, or can bombard forums they're part of asking for votes...

I won 't enter these voting comps either as I don't want to be asking people to vote for me and it will basically come down to who has the most FB 'friends'. Good luck OP

    I agree with other comms,
You have now gone down the same route as the canadian by asking random people to vote.
Technically should you both be disqualified?

I never enter any vote for me comps, as just check out the hardcore FB compers - the reason so many of them have 1000+ friends is for this reason (and for linking comps from their fb etc)
Which is why i hardly enter any of these crappy blogs run by compers, also sites that 'enter' for you are also a con as they are run by compers, and every person who enters through their links in some comps they get an extra entry..

    P.s
I would however rather see a British person win any comp.
Still comping, after 2 heart attacks 4th feb & 6th feb, and a stent put in.. 45 years old only:eek:

Am I the only one who doesn't agree with this statement? the OP has said the wife is offering a prize in exchange for votes? the OP however is not offering bribes.
    Win Totals 2013 £3331 / 2014 £4815 / 2015 £3067 / 2016 £5617 / 2017-2023 £4106 / 2024 £2500 OVER £23K!!

This comment I find troubling, no need to spell out why :(
